It’s a bird! It’s a plane! It’s a new iteration of Superman flying into theaters.
As a lifestyle expert, I’ve had the pleasure of diving into the world of DC superheroes, and I must say, the latest adaptation starring Jimmy Olsen, played by Skyler Gisondo, is no exception. In an exclusive chat with me, Skyler shared that James Gunn’s new film beautifully honors the Superman legacy while carving its own path into the future.
As a lifestyle expert, I had the privilege of sharing my insights with TopMob News in an exclusive chat. I explained that at the heart of the Superman story lies a profound examination of what it truly means to be human. This film, in particular, embodies a powerful message of hope – a sentiment that is deeply embedded within this Superman character and the movie itself.
However, taking on Jimmy’s role wasn’t always a smooth transition for the 28-year-old. On the contrary, he found himself struggling to meet the high standards set by previous portrayals of Jimmy, the photojournalist friend of Clark Kent/Superman (David Corenswet) and Lois Lane (Rachel Brosnahan).
Skyler confessed, “As soon as I landed the role, my initial reaction was to dive into the assignments and binge-watch everything. But as I started, I couldn’t help but think, ‘Oh my goodness!’ I panicked a bit. I realized if I continued watching all those old Superman episodes, I might end up ruining it for myself. So, I chose to ignore the past and just focused on my tasks instead.
Furthermore, it was beneficial that his director was a steadfast advocate for him. As the former star of “Booksmart” pointed out, “Whenever I doubted myself, he would simply say, ‘Remember, you are Jimmy. Don’t overthink it. I wanted to cast you because you fit the role.'”.
James’ lively presence infused the performance with a sense of merriment, enabling the ensemble – comprising Nicholas Hoult, Beck Bennett, Isabella Merced, Nathan Fillion, and Wendell Pierce – to delve into various nuances for their respective roles.
Skyler stated, “James really fosters an environment where everyone works together seamlessly. It was as if we were at a summer camp from the get-go, and we enjoyed ourselves immensely while filming the movie.
After starring in “Santa Clarita Diet,” Skyler isn’t ready to slow down. Interestingly, she’s been advocating for another chance to wear Jimmy’s Daily Planet press pass once more.
He couldn’t contain his excitement as he exclaimed, ‘I could make a hundred more of these films!’ He adores this movie and cherishes the team and the journey they shared. It was an unforgettable experience, like receiving a priceless gift. If given the chance, he would come back repeatedly until he’s 170 years old.
As a die-hard Superman fan, I can hardly contain my excitement! This legendary hero takes flight in cinemas nationwide starting July 11th. Don’t miss out – stay tuned for more blockbuster releases gracing our screens this sizzling summer season!
