Travis Kelce found himself enchanted by Taylor Swift. 

Taylor Swift reportedly convinced the NFL player to continue playing for the Kansas City Chiefs for another season, despite his suggestions that he might retire.

Travis said on The Pat McAfee Show on March 10th that he and his brother have always been passionate about their careers, sharing a childhood love for what they do.

And it was watching Taylor’s work ethic in his daily life that helped lead Travis to his decision. 

It’s incredible to watch her continued creativity,” the 36-year-old said enthusiastically. “She’s constantly discovering fresh ideas for her writing and music, and she still clearly loves what she does, which is wonderful to see.

The tight end said it’s been really encouraging to see how supportive his fiancée has been, especially since she’s seen him navigate uncertainty about his future.

Travis explained that seeing something inspiring makes him feel like he has more to offer. He still has plenty of energy and ideas, and he’s definitely not finished yet. “So, without a doubt,” he affirmed.

As a huge fan, I found it so interesting when Pat McAfee brought up something Travis said about meeting Eric Bieniemy, the Chiefs’ offensive coordinator. It really got people, including me, thinking if that meant Travis was considering coming back to the team!

I didn’t know what ‘Easter eggs’ were until I started dating Taylor,” Travis said with a laugh. “It’s like you just start hiding little clues everywhere, and then fans start figuring them out.”

Although the Super Bowl champ did admit that his comment about Eric was a bit of an accident. 

Travis said the decision to remain with the team came quickly and easily. He also explained that the Chiefs were fully aware of his position throughout the process.

He explained that it’s important to take a break and calm down after a long season, to assess how you’re feeling physically and emotionally. Despite everything, he still loves the game, enjoys the daily work, and is passionate about playing football.

It’s hard to imagine Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce having a wedding on just any day – it would likely be a date that’s significant to them, or at least to Taylor.

Her two-hour interview appeared just 13 days before she and Travis Kelce announced their engagement. However, Travis’s father mentioned they had already told close friends and family about their relationship three days prior to the podcast release. Swift said she genuinely enjoys exploring these kinds of patterns and connections.

Travis’s NFL future after his current contract ends in 2025 will influence when they set their wedding date. If he continues playing football, they’ll plan the wedding during the off-season, sometime between February after the Super Bowl and the start of training camp in July.

If Travis retires after 13 seasons – which is hard to believe – he’ll be able to get married, possibly in October, Taylor’s favorite month. The timing will depend on whether Taylor announces a tour for her new album, The Life of a Showgirl, which was released on October 3rd. Once tour dates are known, it’ll be easier to figure out when a wedding might happen.

Taylor Swift addressed concerns about overplanning her future wedding, telling Cosmopolitan in 2012 that she wanted to ensure her husband felt his presence truly mattered, and clarified she hadn’t even chosen his tuxedo yet.

Taylor and Travis both deeply value family, so their parents and brothers are naturally key figures in the wedding plans. Jason Kelce, likely to be Travis’s best man, has two young daughters, Wyatt and Elliotte, who will probably be flower girls. Depending on the wedding date, his youngest daughter, Bennett, might also get to participate. Their newest baby, Finnley, will likely be too young to attend.

Oh my gosh, I’m already trying to predict who from the Chiefs will make it to the wedding! I know Travis was a groomsman at Patrick Mahomes’ wedding to Brittany back in 2022, so definitely some of the guys from the team will be there, plus Andy Reid, obviously. And honestly, he’s had the same close friends since high school back in Cleveland Heights, so I’m picturing an epic, super fun bachelor party filled with golf and, like, all the beer. It’s going to be amazing.

Taylor Swift’s childhood friend, Abigail Anderson, has consistently been a close part of her life. Though her group of friends has changed over time, Selena Gomez remains a core member, often exchanging gifts like homemade sourdough bread. Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds are still considered close friends as well, despite recent reports of a disagreement related to the actress’s legal issues.

Also, Taylor is already a godmother to Blake and Ryan’s daughters, so she’s familiar with the role and could be a great flower girl choice.

On the September 17th episode of his podcast, New Heights, Travis shared his preference for live music, saying, “I think we’re just people who enjoy bands.”

Honestly, even if the bride decides not to perform herself, she’s surrounded by incredibly talented friends who can absolutely rock a microphone. I’m especially hoping to see Haim take the stage – they’d be amazing!

But Taylor joked it “would be hard to keep” Ed Sheeran from performing at her wedding. 

She explained that Ed Sheeran is a natural performer, saying, ‘If there’s a stage, he’ll be on it.’ She added that he understands his audience and is dedicated to giving them what they enjoy, as she shared during an interview with Hits Radio in October 2025.

Taylor may love Travis so much she’d marry him with paper rings, but that won’t be the case.

I remember Taylor talking about her wedding on Graham Norton’s show, and it really resonated with me. She said she didn’t want the headache of deciding who to invite and who not to, because figuring that out would mean seriously analyzing all her relationships – and who wants to do that when planning a wedding?!

And, she added, “I’m not gonna do that.”

Comedian Nikki Glaser, a self-proclaimed fan of Taylor Swift, is predicting a lavish wedding. Speaking with TopMob News at the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards, Glaser said, “It has to be big—everything has been building up to this moment.”

The comedian pointed out that because Taylor Swift is constantly in the spotlight – essentially treated like a bride every day – her wedding will probably be kept as private as possible.

Nikki said she knows the person just wants to celebrate with everyone she cares about, and she has a large circle of friends and family. Nikki jokingly added that she’s anticipating some disruptive helicopter photos will inevitably surface and bother her during the celebration.

As soon as the wedding is over and the couple drives away, Taylor will definitely start sharing photos and videos from her wedding with her fans.
