If your defense fails and you’re left one-on-one with an opposing player in FC 26, it’s important to understand how to control your goalkeeper.
As a fan, I always think even the smallest edge can be huge when a player is facing a defender one-on-one. It really could be the thing that decides whether they score a goal or just earn a corner kick!
Here’s a simple guide on how to move your goalkeeper in FC 26, helping you place them strategically and save more goals.
How to move the keeper in FC 26
In FC 26, you can control your goalkeeper manually in two different ways, and these methods work in any game mode where the goalkeeper is normally controlled by the AI.
Here are both ways:
- Holding triangle / Y when you are not in possession will pull the keeper out of the goal and make them run directly towards the ball. This is especially useful to close down space in a one-on-one, but going too early can leave you at risk of being chipped
- You can also move your keeper around more specifically by pressing down the right analogue stick and moving it around to move the keeper in the direction you want him to move, just like regular players. This method can almost guarantee a save if you correctly guess which way your opponent is going to shoot, but can guarantee them an open goal if you get it wrong.
Both approaches have advantages and disadvantages, and the best choice depends on the specific circumstances.
Both techniques are improvements over simply leaving your goalkeeper stationary. It’s worth learning both, and with practice, you’ll develop a sense of when to use each one effectively.
