When does Tokyo Game Show 2025 start?
The highly anticipated Tokyo Game Show, one of the world’s largest gaming events, is just about to commence. It’s slated to start live on September 25, 2025, at the following times: 9:00 AM Pacific Time, 12:00 PM Eastern Time, 5:00 PM British Summer Time, and 1:00 AM Japan Standard Time.
The event will take place from Thursday, September 25, 2025, to Sunday, September 28, 2025. I strongly suggest that you keep an eye on it during those three days since this year’s Tokyo Game Show promises to be one of the biggest ones yet!
This year’s Tokyo Game Show is bursting with numerous game development studios – ranging from small independent creators to major international AAA studios. These studios, which include the likes of Sony, Sega, Square Enix, Capcom, Konami, Atlus, and Microsoft among others, are eager to unveil their newest projects on a global scale.
What can we expect to see at Tokyo Game Show 2025?
At the upcoming event, major studios like Square Enix, Capcom, and Microsoft are expected to make an appearance, showcasing their newest video games. There’s speculation circulating that Microsoft might unveil Forza Horizon 6 at the Tokyo Game Show 2025. However, nothing is confirmed yet.
Square Enix has just shared that their Tokyo Game Show 2025 roster will feature these titles:
- Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake
- Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles
- Octopath Traveler 0
- Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade
- The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales
- Killer Inn
- Dragon Quest X Online
- Final Fantasy XIV
- Dragon Quest III HD-2D
- Magic the Gathering’s collaboration with Final Fantasy
- Final Fantasy Trading Card Game
As an observer, I’m thrilled to note some anticipated additions to this lineup. Among them is the eagerly awaited Xbox version of the Final Fantasy VII Remake, a long-desired port for many fans. Also, we have the HD-2D remakes of the first two Dragon Quest mainline titles, which are bound to delight lovers of the classic series. Last but not least, the remaster of Final Fantasy Tactics, a dream come true for strategy enthusiasts, is another major highlight.
Mentioning that Final Fantasy Tactics is often lauded as a standout title within the whole Final Fantasy series, I regrettably didn’t have the opportunity to experience the original 1997 version because my understanding of tactical role-playing games wasn’t developed enough at that point in time.
As a fervent enthusiast, I can hardly wait to experience this marvel in person at the upcoming exhibition, prior to its launch on September 30, 2025. It will be available across platforms: Xbox, PlayStation, and PC through Steam.
Among all studios, I’m eagerly awaiting updates from Capcom, particularly since they’ve announced that their major upcoming releases, such as Resident Evil: Reverie, Pragmata, Onimusha: Sword of War, and Monster Hunter Stories 3: Tangled Fate, will be featured at the show.
In addition, Capcom plans to provide updates on previously launched games such as Street Fighter 6 and Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak.
In my case, I’m particularly excited about staying updated on Capcom’s news regarding their Monster Hunter series, given that I’m an avid enthusiast of the franchise.
I’m eagerly anticipating the development of the Monster Hunter Stories sub-series in Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection, particularly its more ominous narrative style and the introduction of new creatures from Monster Hunter Rise.
I’m hoping too that we can watch more video content and learn about the release date for the sensational crossover between Monster Hunter Wilds and Final Fantasy XIV. This exciting collaboration is expected to introduce rideable Chocobos and the fearsome boss, ‘Omega’, from Final Fantasy XIV, into the vast monster collection of Monster Hunter Wilds.
At Tokyo Game Show 2025, you’ll get a glimpse of many games on offer, numbering in the dozens. And who knows, there might even be some surprising, yet-to-be-revealed games that make their debut at this exciting event.
Using this guide, you’ll have the opportunity to catch a glimpse of these announcements and discover fresh, thrilling Xbox and PC games that you can add to your wishlist as Tokyo Game Show 2025 kicks off on September 25, 2025.
