For a long time, the Nintendo Switch has been popular as both a gaming system and a way to watch streaming services on the go. But soon, it will no longer support one of its most-used apps: Hulu.
The new Nintendo Switch 2 will have much better technology inside, but people who like to watch TV and movies on their consoles might be unhappy. The new system doesn’t currently work with popular streaming apps, and even the original Switch is losing access to Hulu, a well-known streaming service.
Nintendo announced that the Hulu app will no longer be available on any Switch console starting February 5, 2026. The company stated on January 7, 2026, that they are discontinuing the app and have already removed it from the Nintendo eShop, so it can’t be downloaded anymore. Support for the app will end completely on February 5, 2026.
Hulu used to be a key streaming app on the Nintendo Switch, letting users easily watch videos and play games on one device. Now that it’s gone, the Switch’s ability to stream video is even more restricted.
The recent launch of the Switch 2 makes it even more disappointing for users to learn that it doesn’t support popular streaming services like Crunchyroll or YouTube. YouTube is currently listed as having limited or no functionality, and hasn’t been tested to work properly. Crunchyroll doesn’t work at all, which could be a problem for many anime fans.
Even though Hulu is leaving and Crunchyroll won’t be available on the new Switch, the anime app will still work on the original Switch console. Nintendo hasn’t said they plan to remove it in the future.
It seems Disney, not Nintendo, made the decision to remove content from Hulu. This change is happening because Hulu and Disney+ are merging into a single streaming service, so the content will still be available, just within that combined platform.
