A new version of the classic ’90s thriller is already a hit, quickly climbing the charts on streaming platforms just one day after its release. It began streaming on October 22nd.
According to FlixPatrol, the new version of the classic horror film The Hand That Rocks the Cradle, featuring Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Maika Monroe, is now the most popular movie on Hulu. It’s also performing well on Disney+ – landing at number 25 – particularly in areas outside of North America where Hulu content is included with Disney+ subscriptions.
This movie is a reimagining of the 1992 film of the same name, with a new script by Micah Bloomberg. It stars Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Caitlyn Morales, a lawyer who recently had a baby and decides to hire one of her clients, Polly Murphy (played by Maika Monroe), as a nanny. Polly seems ideal for looking after Caitlyn’s two young daughters, but it quickly becomes apparent she has dangerous plans for the family and a hidden connection to Caitlyn’s past.
The film features Raúl Castillo as Miguel Morales, Caitlyn’s husband, and Mileiah Vega as their daughter, Emma. Martin Starr plays Stewart, the family’s neighbor, alongside Riki Lindhome as Bethany and Shannon Cochran as Rosanna. The Hand That Rocks the Cradle premiered on Hulu on October 22nd. Though many people are watching it, critics haven’t been as impressed.
