Hypixel Studios is releasing its popular sandbox RPG, Hytale, in Early Access tomorrow. The studio’s founder, Simon Collins-Laflamme, has shared that over 1 million players have already purchased access. Because of this high demand, they anticipate potential server problems when the game launches and recommend players download the game launcher beforehand to avoid any issues.
Collins-Laflamme recently announced that pre-orders for Hytale have been so successful that the development studio has secured funding for the next two years. He also emphasized his dedication to the game, stating that both pre-order numbers and his continued involvement ensure a bright future for Hytale.
We’re thrilled to share that pre-purchases have fully funded development for the next two years! Along with my commitment to this project for the next decade, we’re in a very secure position for the future. Thank you for all your incredible support – Hytale is safe, and we’re nearing the finish line!
The story of Hytale is quite unique. It started as a popular Minecraft server called Hypixel. The team behind Hypixel then decided to create their own ambitious sandbox role-playing game. Later, in 2020, Riot Games – known for games like League of Legends and Valorant – bought the studio developing Hytale.
Hypixel Studios’ CEO, Aaron Donaghey, expressed excitement about the positive reaction to Hytale, stating that Riot Games is the ideal partner to help them create a game that meets player hopes. From early discussions, they recognized a shared commitment to supporting players. As development accelerates, Hypixel Studios will leverage Riot’s resources and knowledge, while still maintaining the independent operation that has driven their success.
Despite ongoing work, the project was ultimately cancelled in June 2025. Following this, Collins-Laflamme acquired the rights to Hytale from Riot Games and restarted development.
If you want to play Hytale, Hypixel suggests having at least an Intel Core i5-7500 or AMD Ryzen 3 1200 processor, and 8GB of RAM. For graphics, they recommend Intel UHD Graphics 620 or AMD Radeon Vega 6 if you’re using integrated graphics. If you have a dedicated graphics card, an Nvidia GTX 900 series, AMD Radeon 400 series, or Intel Arc A-series card will work. The game supports Windows 11, Windows 10 (64-bit), Linux (64-bit) with kernel 6.15 or newer, and Macs with the Apple M1 chip and macOS Tahoe or newer. With this hardware, you should be able to play Hytale at 1080p resolution with 30 frames per second and a view distance of 192.
To play with high settings – 1080p resolution, 60 frames per second, and a long view distance of 384 – the developers suggest using at least an Intel Core i5-10400, an AMD Ryzen 5 3600, or an Apple M2 chip (if you have a Mac). You’ll also need 16 GB of RAM. For built-in graphics, Intel Iris Xe and AMD Radeon 660M will work on Windows and Linux. They recommend using the same graphics cards as the minimum requirements if you want a dedicated card.
