It’s odd that Marvel Studios hasn’t officially announced whether a popular superhero team will be part of the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday event. While Marvel has revealed 27 actors who will be in the movie – including heroes from the Avengers, New Avengers, Fantastic Four, X-Men, and other groups – some other well-known teams haven’t been mentioned. Fans would be excited to see them return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2026.
Marvel has hinted at several potential new superhero teams for Avengers: Doomsday, and fans are hoping to see the Guardians of the Galaxy return for the sequel. The Guardians have been a key part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe since they first appeared in 2014, but their future is currently uncertain. With a revamped team of interesting new characters, many are eager to see the Guardians join the fight against Doctor Doom in Avengers: Doomsday.
The Guardians of the Galaxy Would Fit Perfectly Into Avengers: Doomsday’s Storyline

The upcoming movie, Avengers: Doomsday, will likely feature Victor Von Doom, as portrayed by Robert Downey Jr. reprising his role from The Fantastic Four: First Steps. This version of Doom travels across different universes to prevent catastrophic events that threaten the entire multiverse. During his journey, he’ll encounter alternate versions of familiar faces like the Fantastic Four and X-Men, potentially even the Illuminati. It would be great if the Guardians of the Galaxy could join the adventure too.
The 2023 film Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 concluded with a revamped team now led by Rocket Raccoon (voiced by Bradley Cooper). This new line-up includes Groot (Vin Diesel), Kraglin (Sean Gunn), Adam Warlock (Will Poulter), Phyla (Kai Zen), Cosmo (Maria Bakalova), and Blurp (Dee Bradley Baker), making them an incredibly strong force. Their combined power suggests that if Doctor Doom is their next opponent, he’ll need to defeat them first to achieve his goals.
At the end of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Peter Quill (Chris Pratt) and several teammates – Nebula (Karen Gillan), Drax (Dave Bautista), and Mantis (Pom Klementieff) – departed the team. Both Pratt and Gillan have hinted at future appearances in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, leading to speculation that Star-Lord and Nebula could be involved in Avengers: Doomsday. A possible storyline could involve Doctor Doom attacking Knowhere, or Star-Lord joining the Avengers after settling on Earth. Fans are hoping to see the Guardians return in the upcoming film, potentially setting up new and exciting adventures within the MCU.
