I spent two weeks using Geekom’s first 16-inch laptop — an interesting processor choice, but a solid performance from one of our favorite mini PC brands

Geekom, a company famous for its compact mini PCs (including several featured in our best mini PC rankings), recently entered the laptop market this year with two new models: the GeekBook X16 Pro and the smaller GeekBook X14 Pro. These laptops follow a similar naming style to Apple products but run on Microsoft’s Windows operating system.

As someone who’s spent a good amount of time evaluating mini PCs – specifically those from Geekom at Windows Central – I’ve consistently been impressed with their quality. So, naturally, I was eager to see if that same level of performance and build quality translated to their new laptop line.

For the past two weeks, I’ve been using the GeekBook X16 Pro as my primary laptop for both work and personal use. I also tested its performance with several benchmark programs to get a clear picture of its capabilities.

I think this laptop is a really solid choice! It’s fantastic in a lot of ways, though there’s definitely room for improvement in a few areas. But honestly, overall it’s a great machine, and I wanted to share everything I’ve learned about it.

We received a review sample from Geekom to evaluate this product. They had no influence on the review and didn’t see it before it was published.

My Geekom GeekBook X16 Pro review

Design & Price ⭐⭐⭐⭐

The GeekBook X16 Pro is a stylish and portable laptop with a sleek design and a full number pad, making it suitable for both everyday use and professional environments.

This 16-inch laptop comes in two versions and is available from both Amazon and Geekom. One configuration includes an Intel Core Ultra 5-125H processor, Intel Arc Graphics, 32GB of RAM, and a 1TB solid-state drive. It normally costs $1,399, but Geekom is currently selling it for $1,149.

The second model boasts a powerful Intel Core Ultra 9-185H processor with Intel Arc graphics, 32GB of RAM, and a spacious 2TB solid-state drive. It normally costs $1,599, but is currently available for $1,349 from Geekom.

As a researcher, I’ve found a discount code for this laptop! You can save 10% on purchases made through Amazon or Geekom by using the code WINDX16PRO. Just keep in mind this offer is only good until March 5, 2026.

While GeekBook laptops are more affordable than some other AI-powered options, they use older Intel Core Ultra 100 Series processors. This feels like a strange decision considering that the newer 200 Series were common last year, and Intel has already released the even more advanced 300 Series for current laptops. Essentially, the 100 Series processors are now outdated.

Laptops with these processors usually cost between $800 and $1,800, depending on their other features. This X16 Pro is therefore a more budget-friendly 16-inch AI laptop compared to the newest, high-end models from brands like Lenovo, Dell, and HP. If you don’t necessarily need the very latest AI processors, this laptop offers a good value while still giving you an AI-powered PC.

This laptop offers a good selection of ports – including two USB-C, two USB-A, HDMI, an audio jack, and a microSD card reader – so you can easily connect displays and other devices. Despite all these features, it remains lightweight at just 1.27kg (2.8 pounds) and incredibly thin at only 0.68cm (0.27 inches), making it very portable.

The GeekBook X16 Pro is a stylish laptop with a good selection of ports, and it’s more affordable than many other new 16-inch AI laptops released in 2026.

Display ⭐⭐⭐⭐

The GeekBook X16 Pro’s screen isn’t groundbreaking, but it’s perfectly good. It offers a solid color range, gets bright enough, and features a sharp 2.5k resolution, wide viewing angles, a smooth 120Hz refresh rate, and a 16:10 aspect ratio – you likely won’t find anything to complain about.

When tested for color accuracy, the display showed 98% of the sRGB color space, and 74% coverage of both AdobeRGB and P3. It also achieved a peak brightness of 425 nits and a contrast ratio of 1250:1.

It’s not the highest-quality screen, but it works great for everyday tasks like work, school, and personal use.

Performance ⭐⭐⭐⭐

The GeekBook X16 Pro isn’t a top-performing laptop for 2026. It’s equipped with older Intel Core Ultra 100 Series processors, originally launched in 2023, which holds it back from competing with newer models.

This laptop performs reliably for everyday tasks, though it doesn’t have the newest technology. I used it extensively for things like photo editing, web browsing, streaming videos, and writing papers, and it consistently worked well – I never experienced any problems during many hours of use.

  • Geekbench 6 2,375 single-core | 7,926 multi-core
  • Cinebench R24 — 103 single-core | 685 multi-core
  • 3DMark Time Spy — 4,109 score
  • CrossMark — 1,865 score
  • Handbrake — 3,428 seconds

The laptop’s cooling system works really well – it never gets hot to the touch, even when I’m typing, using it on my lap, or pushing the processor to its limits for a long time.

However, my main issue with the GeekBook X16 Pro is how noisy the fans are. They start up very easily and have a high-pitched sound that can be quite annoying.

Battery life ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I tested the laptop’s battery life over two weeks by using it normally until it ran out of power several times. This gave me a good idea of how long it lasts in everyday use.

During everyday use – things like browsing the internet, writing documents, and using Photoshop – the laptop lasted about 10 hours and 53 minutes. That’s not the best battery life we’ve tested, but it’s plenty for a full workday.

Keyboard & touchpad ⭐⭐⭐⭐½

The keyboard feels good to type on, with comfortable, well-spaced keys. It took a little getting used to the location of the Shift and Enter keys, as I occasionally pressed them by mistake.

This keyboard includes helpful function and media keys, plus a complete number pad. All these features combine to make the laptop very easy and convenient to work with.

The laptop has a spacious and accurate touchpad, making it easy to move around and select things without needing to try multiple times.

Software & AI ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Geekom stands out from many computer makers by keeping its devices free of unwanted software. However, a few programs come pre-installed, such as Geekom PC Manager, DTS Sound Unbound, and DTS:X Ultra. Geekom PC Manager is a helpful tool that lets you monitor your computer’s performance, customize settings, and easily update drivers or run maintenance tasks.

These two DTS programs let you easily set up and control your DTS audio system. You can customize the sound by choosing from different presets and fine-tuning the equalizer until it sounds perfect.

The GeekBook X16 Pro qualifies as an AI PC because it has a processor with a dedicated AI component. However, its processor is an older generation, so it doesn’t deliver top-of-the-line AI performance. It can still manage some AI-powered tasks more effectively than laptops without this feature.

Everything else ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Many laptops don’t come with a built-in webcam cover, but the GeekBook X16 Pro does, giving you a simple way to protect your privacy by sliding the cover closed.

The microphone, webcam, and speaker aren’t the highest quality I’ve tested, but they worked well enough for clear video calls with colleagues. The speaker gets plenty loud and sounds good for both music and streaming. The webcam provides accurate colors, as long as you have good lighting. It’s worth noting that it doesn’t support facial recognition login for Windows Hello.

The power button, located on the upper right side of the keyboard, also functions as a fingerprint scanner. I enabled this feature when I first started using the laptop, and it has consistently and quickly logged me in since then.

Geekom GeekBook X16 Pro: My final thoughts

✅You should buy this if …

  • You want a reliable AI laptop that doesn’t cost as much as other options.
  • You’d prefer a laptop with a full number pad and a fingerprint reader.

❌You should not buy this if …

  • You specifically are looking for a laptop with the latest and greatest AI processors.
  • You’re looking for a laptop that supports facial recognition login.

Unlike other brands launching laptops with the newest AI processors, the GeekBook focuses on providing reliable performance at a more affordable price by using slightly older processors.

This laptop has plenty of memory and storage for typical work, school, and personal use, and it runs smoothly, though it’s not the fastest available. The fans can get a bit noisy, and it would be nice if it also offered facial recognition alongside the fingerprint scanner.

The GeekBook X16 Pro is undeniably a dependable laptop that offers a lot of helpful features.
