Even though Yakuza Kiwami 3 is a remake of an older game for PlayStation 3, it will reportedly include significant clues about the future direction of the Like a Dragon series.
So, I was reading an interview with Masayoshi Yokoyama, the director at RGG Studio, and he dropped some interesting hints. Honestly, he’s known for saying things that get Yakuza fans like me really excited and paying attention!
Yokoyama shared with GameWatch (according to Automaton’s translation) that the content offers significant clues about where the series is headed.
We haven’t made any official announcements about that yet. However, once you’ve had a chance to play the game, you’ll likely understand our plans for the future of the series.
That’s a really striking quote, and it definitely suggests there’s a lot more depth to Yakuza Kiwami 3 than we initially thought.
Yokoyama strongly emphasizes the significance of Yakuza Kiwami 3, clarifying that it’s much more than a simple remake.
Look, Yokoyama’s known for getting people excited about stuff, it’s literally his job as director and producer. But honestly, the way he’s been talking about Kiwami 3… it feels like there’s something really big going on behind the scenes. He wouldn’t be pushing this hard if it was just business as usual, you know?
So, it turns out this remake isn’t just a fresh coat of paint – it includes a whole new story arc called Dark Ties. You actually get to play as Yoshitaka Mine, the villain from Yakuza 3! When Yokoyama-san was talking about changes, I think he might have been hinting at this Dark Ties addition – it’s a pretty big deal!
It’s unclear whether Yakuza Kiwami 3 might include story elements that connect to later games, or if Yokoyama is hinting at new gameplay features. Whatever it is, he’s definitely good at getting people excited!
Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties is launching on February 12th! Are you planning to head to Okinawa in the game? Share a picture of your favorite vacation shirt in the comments!
