Battlefield 6’s launch week is coming to a close, and it’s been a huge success! The game received great reviews and quickly attracted over 750,000 players on Steam. It sold more than 7 million copies in just three days and has been the best-selling game on Steam since its release.
Battlefield 6 has been incredibly popular and successful, but it hasn’t been perfect. Players have experienced a number of bugs, launch problems, and some issues with how the game plays and runs.
One of the biggest issues players have with the game is how slowly you unlock new items. Compared to previous Battlefield games, it feels like it takes a long time and a lot of effort to get new weapons, attachments, and gadgets. After playing for 40 hours myself, I definitely agree – the progression system needs improvement.
Fortunately, the team at Battlefield Studios listened to player feedback and recently released a patch – first announced in a community update – to make progression feel faster and more rewarding.
Players have told us it takes too long to unlock things like gadgets and weapon attachments, and we understand that earning rewards is important. We’ve been listening to your feedback about how slowly things unlock, especially when it comes to hardware, and we agree that feeling rewarded for your time in the game is crucial, the developers said.
To start improving the experience, the team has made a few changes to how players advance, aiming to make it feel less repetitive and more enjoyable.
- The XP gained from match completion and the daily bonus are being increased by 10% and 40% respectively.
- The XP needed to unlock the first 20 attachment ranks is being reduced, so you’ll start earning useful attachments almost twice as fast.
- Please Note: For weapons that are already being progressed, the UI might display something abnormal at first, but this should resolve itself once a match is played while using that weapon.
- The assignments that required career ranks 20, 23, and 26 to begin will now require career ranks 10, 15, and 20, respectively.
We’ve made several changes to help players progress faster, including increasing XP earned, making weapon attachments easier to unlock, and allowing access to new weapons and class gadgets at lower ranks through Challenges. These improvements should significantly speed up overall advancement.
One of the most frustrating things about Battlefield 6’s progression is how challenging its objectives are. Some challenges are needlessly difficult, repetitive, and confusing – for example, one asks you to damage enemies by firing light machine guns without aiming down the sights, even though that’s a very inaccurate way to shoot.
Since the game launched, players have repeatedly complained about how annoying these features are. It’s frustrating that they haven’t been fixed yet, but it seems like updates are finally coming.

As a researcher following the Battlefield community, I noticed the recent update from Battlefield Studios addressed player frustration with the Challenges feature. They’ve confirmed they’re working on improvements and will be rolling those out sometime down the line.
The developers said that starting the assignments earlier is good, but they understand the difficulties people are having with them. They’re currently working on improvements, but it will take time to create, check, and release those updates.
Battlefield Studios understands players are frustrated with the current Challenges and has said they plan to make improvements in the future.
It’s disappointing that Challenge objectives won’t be updated soon, and I wonder why it’s so hard to fix the really unfair ones. However, I’m happy to hear that improvements are planned.
It’s fantastic that Battlefield 6 received significant improvements to its progression system just a week after launch. Even though the progression had some problems at first, I’ve been enjoying the game, and these changes make me want to play even more!
