Marvel Studios recently revealed exciting details about the upcoming *VisionQuest* series, including a major spoiler that has fans even more hyped for the Phase 6 show. *VisionQuest* is set to premiere on Disney+ in late 2026 and will be the third installment in a trilogy that began with the popular *WandaVision* (2021) and continued with *Agatha All Along* (2024). Paul Bettany will return as Vision – specifically, the white version audiences first saw in *WandaVision* – and he won’t be the only familiar face appearing in this new spinoff.
At this year’s New York Comic-Con, Marvel revealed new information about the upcoming animated series, *VisionQuest*. The event included the debut of the series logo and a special appearance by the actors who voice some familiar AI characters – Henry Lewis, Jonathan Sayer, James D’Arcy, Orla Brady, Emily Hampshire, and James Spader – portraying physical versions of DUM-E, U, JARVIS, FRIDAY, EDITH, and Ultron. Plus, fans learned that another popular character from the Marvel Cinematic Universe will be making a return appearance in the series.
Tommy Shepherd Being Confirmed for VisionQuest Avoids Agatha All Along’s Mystery Being Repeated
Footage from New York Comic Con for the series *VisionQuest* showed a glimpse of Ruaridh Mollica, who joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe cast in February 2025. Fans have long speculated that Mollica would play Tommy Maximoff, the reincarnated son of Vision and Scarlet Witch. This theory suggested that after his brother Billy (Joe Locke) used his powers in *Agatha All Along* to give Tommy a new body, he would return. The new *VisionQuest* footage now confirms this, officially revealing that Mollica will portray Tommy Maximoff, also known as Thomas Shepherd, in the series.
It’s unusual that Marvel Studios revealed a major actor for *VisionQuest* so far ahead of the show’s Disney+ release, but it’s good news that they’re avoiding a repeat of a past tactic. They successfully kept Joe Locke’s role as Billy Maximoff secret in *Agatha All Along* for several episodes using clever misdirection. This time, with *VisionQuest*, Julian Mollica will have the opportunity to fully explore his character, Tommy Maximoff, who could evolve into the hero known as Speed.
As a big Marvel fan, I always found the story of Wiccan and Speed fascinating. It turns out that Thomas Shepherd, who goes by Speed, is actually a reincarnation of Tommy Maximoff, revealed back in 2006 in *Young Avengers #11*. The whole thing is pretty complex – Billy and Tommy were originally magically created by the Scarlet Witch using pieces of Mephisto’s soul to be her and Vision’s sons! Mephisto eventually took them back, but they were reborn as Wiccan and Speed, joining the Young Avengers and later discovering the truth about their origins. The way Marvel Studios handled their death and rebirth in the Disney+ series, linking it to the breakdown of the Scarlet Witch’s reality in Westview, was brilliant. It perfectly paved the way for stories like *Agatha All Along* and *VisionQuest*, and really deepened the whole mythology.
If Marvel Is Happy to Reveal Speed’s MCU Return, VisionQuest Must Be Hiding Something HUGE
Marvel Studios is famous for keeping major plot twists and surprises under wraps until their movies and shows come out. The recent confirmation that Ruaridh Mollica will play Thomas Shepherd was a big reveal, hinting that there are likely even more secrets to uncover in the upcoming spinoff. As the last installment in the *WandaVision* and *Agatha All Along* story arc, *VisionQuest* needs to resolve existing storylines and set up future possibilities for its main characters, which promises to be very exciting for viewers.
We’ve learned quite a bit about the upcoming *VisionQuest* series, but Marvel Studios may still have some surprises in store. There’s speculation that Joe Locke and Kathryn Hahn could return as Billy Maximoff and Agatha Harkness, potentially leading to a long-awaited family gathering. Many fans are also hoping to see Elizabeth Olsen reprise her role as Wanda Maximoff, despite her character’s controversial death in *Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness*, to complete the family.
VisionQuest, the concluding part of the trilogy, would be a satisfying end if it brought Vision back to full power and reunited him with Wanda Maximoff. After becoming a villain in Phase 4, the Scarlet Witch deserves a chance to be redeemed, and this story offers the ideal setting for that. The potential for her to reconnect with Vision and their sons—especially with Ruaridh Mollica confirmed to be playing one of them—makes the prospect even more thrilling.
