I’m So Obsessed With Ana De Armas Assembling A Gun In 14 Seconds In Ballerina, And This BTS Footage Confirms The Stunt Was Done Practically

With discussions still ongoing about a possible John Wick: Chapter 5 (perhaps it’s best for Keanu Reeves’ health if it doesn’t happen), let’s remember the standout character introduced to the series earlier this year. Ana de Armas played Eve Macarro in the 2025 film Ballerina, embarking on her own journey of vengeance, much like John Wick. I really liked Ballerina, especially the scene where de Armas quickly put a gun together in just 14 seconds, and I’m even more impressed to learn that the stunt was performed for real, without special effects.

In a video making the rounds that was originally shared by @cinema.encyclopedia, we see Ana de Armas successfully putting together a gun opposite one of the stunt team’s members. It was important for her to do it as quickly as possible for one of Ballerina’s key scenes, and just look at the joy on her face when she made it happen.

I sincerely hope the parts of that gun were thoroughly checked for safety, because I was definitely worried when Ana de Armas aimed it directly at the other actor. Putting that aside, it’s amazing to think about how much practice the actress needed to perform that action so quickly. For her character, Eve Macarro, it wasn’t just a performance – it was a life-or-death situation. She had to put the gun together to eliminate a former member of the Ruska Roma and finish her training as an assassin, which you’ll see detailed below:

More Ballerina Coverage

Removing the scene with the ballerina actually resolves a significant plot problem I had with the John Wick spinoff. However, this change now brings up a different question for me.

A fan asked Keanu Reeves about the most impressive, or ‘badass’, thing Ana de Armas did while filming Ballerina. His response was wonderfully considerate: he explained he was visualizing the fight choreography in his mind as she performed it, saying, ‘I’m going through the fight in my head.’

After finishing that last challenge, Eve transformed into the Kikimora and undertook several assignments for the Ruska Roma. But she didn’t remain with them for long, choosing instead to relentlessly hunt down The Cult – the group that had killed her father when she was young. Though she managed to eliminate The Cult’s leader, referred to only as The Chancellor, and many of its followers, those who remained placed a $5 million bounty on her head, compelling her to find safety at the New York Continental.

Right after watching Ballerina, I started thinking about how the events in John Wick: Chapter 4 changed things for Eve. But more than that, I wondered if we’ll see her again in a Ballerina sequel. The John Wick spinoff got good reviews, but it didn’t do very well at the box office, earning only $137.2 million worldwide despite costing around $90 million to make. Even so, I really hope Lionsgate decides to bring Ana de Armas back as Eve, either in another movie of her own or as a character in someone else’s story – maybe even in a spinoff featuring Donnie Yen’s Caine. She’s such a great character, and it would be a waste not to use her again.

You can now enjoy Ballerina in a few different ways – you can buy it digitally or on disc, or stream it on Starz, which is an add-on option for your Hulu account. If you’re a fan of the John Wick franchise, you can also subscribe to Peacock to watch all four main John Wick movies, plus the TV series The Continental.
