Enthusiasts of PlayStation Studios and Arrowhead Game Studios are brimming with anticipation for the highly-praised 2024 co-op shooter, Helldivers 2. The game, available on Windows PC and PS5, is set to welcome a multitude of new players as its Xbox version launches on August 26 (here’s when you can jump in).
Concurrently, a unique Legendary Warbond is set to debut, heavily themed on a much-anticipated collaboration between Helldivers 2 and Halo ODST. This bond features two armors and four weapons inspired by renowned gear from Halo 3: ODST, along with additional aesthetic enhancements. Previews suggest these unlocks could be among the best ever incorporated into the game, one even featuring a tribute to a celebrated Halo Easter egg.
Indeed, it’s worth noting that these reinforcements and innovative equipment are arriving at a critical time when they are particularly essential. In anticipation of their arrival next week, Arrowhead and its enigmatic Game Master Joel have unveiled a challenging new Major Order, which might prove to be even more demanding than the defense of Super Earth itself for the gaming community.
The goal is surprisingly straightforward yet incredibly challenging: Within just a week and a half, the Helldivers must eliminate approximately 6 billion Terminids, 1.5 billion Automatons, and 1 billion troops from the Illuminate, or else a galaxy-wide invasion will ensue.
In simpler terms, we are looking at approximately 8.5 billion adversaries of Lady Liberty that need to be addressed, and while we have ample time, this task will likely come down to the final moments. You can follow the progress here.
According to the latest update from Super Earth’s command center, although we are strengthening our forces, the battle ahead is expected to be challenging. Each territory we capture and each enemy we defeat could potentially tip the scales in our favor.
For the first time, we’re witnessing an unprecedented, three-front attack orchestrated by opposing factions against Super Earth. As our leaders have emphasized, this synchronized three-pronged offensive strongly suggests collaboration among the ruthless adversaries of Democratic Management.
It appears that the Terminids, Automatons, and Illuminate are collaborating to exhaust Super Earth’s forces in the three fronts of the Galactic War, which is a concerning trend. To effectively counter this strategy, we must engage the enemy at all points and force them into fierce battles for every bit of territory they try to claim.
Given the current situation, one might wonder if the bugs, bots, and squids will work together in future encounters. However, only the passage of time can provide an answer to that question. As for me, a Helldiver, I don’t have the luxury of contemplating such matters since there are defensive duties to attend to!
Facing a challenging mission, there’s no denying that, but with the support of the forthcoming Xbox allies and the exciting weapons from the Halo ODST collaboration, I am confident the Helldivers will triumph, even against insurmountable odds.
While our task ahead is undeniably tough, with the assistance of upcoming Xbox backup and the amazing new weapons from the Halo ODST crossover, I believe the Helldivers will come out on top, no matter how steep the odds.
A more effective approach would be to focus on completing mission objectives gradually, all the while engaging in intense battles by firing at anything within sight and intentionally allowing enemy reinforcement calls to go through. Since the Major Order values kill counts, it’s crucial to do everything possible to increase the number of kills we make.
If our community successfully secures a victory, each player will be generously rewarded with 175 Warbond Medals. This breaks down to 55 medals for every enemy faction we keep under control during the battle. These medals will prove invaluable when attempting to unlock various Halo ODST items from the Legendary Warbond, which might not be accessible while this offensive is still active.
Once more, the struggle we face will be tough, yet not insurmountable, provided that our community- bolstered by incoming Xbox trainees who’ve completed boot camp-fights with all their might and wit. I’m looking forward to joining this fight myself over the weekend, and I hope you’ll be there too, engaging in combat alongside us.
The price of Helldivers 2 is $39.99 on Xbox Series X|S, Windows PC (Steam), and PS5, but you can find a better deal. Right now, it’s discounted to only $33.69 at CDKeys if you purchase a PC code.
