The new PS5 fighting game, Avatar Legends, is getting a lot of praise from fighting game experts and will be surprisingly affordable when it comes out on July 2nd. It will only cost $29.99, which is a great price considering how much games usually cost these days.
While there’s a $49.99 Deluxe Edition with extra content, it’s not required to have a good time with the game.
Here are your options:
Standard Edition ($29.99)
- 12 Characters
- Story Mode
- Arcade Mode
- Training Mode
- Combo Trials
- Character Lessons
- Gallery Mode
- Online: Ranked, Casual, and Lobbies

It seems the planned PlayStation 4 version has been dropped, as it’s not included in any of the recent announcements.
The game is being created by a team called the Gameplay Group, and its founder, Victor Lugo, shared this statement in a press release:
We want players to immediately feel comfortable and skilled when they pick up our fighting game. The world of Avatar is a natural fit because it emphasizes movement, learning advanced techniques, and self-expression – all key elements of a great fighting game. We’ve designed the game to be highly responsive, offer a lot of strategic depth, and support competitive gameplay.
And here’s the official overview, which gives you an idea of what to expect:
As a huge Avatar fan, I’m so excited about Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game! It’s a fighting game that really captures the feeling of bending the elements. What’s cool is that it seems like it’s made for everyone – whether you’re brand new to fighting games or a seasoned pro. It’s taking what makes those classic games fun and mixing it with some really innovative movement and combat styles – it looks amazing and I can’t wait to play!
This game is designed to be smooth, quick to react, and fair to play online. It lets players experience meaningful combat and stays true to the look and feel of the original series with its hand-drawn 2D art and expressive animations.
As a huge fan, I’m so excited they’re keeping the classic hand-drawn 2D animation style! And the best part? They’ve built in amazing rollback netcode, so online matches are super smooth, and I can play with friends on any platform thanks to full cross-play. It’s going to be incredible!
Players have really enjoyed the gameplay, as we noted earlier, so we anticipate a large audience given the game’s price.
