Industry star reveals whether controversial character will return for season 4 after explosive third season

In a new turn of events, Conor MacNeill from Pierpoint & Co is exchanging his corporate attire for the 18th-century wardrobe, as he takes on the role of Ned Gowan in Outlander: Blood of My Blood.

In this new and thrilling position, MacNeill breathes life into the early phases of Ned’s tale in Blood of My Blood. However, it’s undeniable that a significant number of television viewers will likely remember MacNeill from his time portraying the always-contentious Kenny Kilbane on BBC and HBO’s Industry.

Did Kenny, a character who appeared in every season of the show, leave because he was busy filming a spin-off series of Outlander, or did his storyline come to an end with season 3?

He went on to say: “I could always work in Industry; it’s filled with an exceptional group of individuals to collaborate with. However, one remarkable aspect of Industry is its competitive nature, reflecting the reality of that environment, don’t you think?

Those storylines, particularly the one where it took place, seemed fitting and just. In addition, Kenny somewhat earned it due to his past actions. It’s as if he couldn’t escape the consequences of his actions forever. Eventually, someone would catch up with him. Moreover, his life had undergone a transformation, and I believe that the toxic environment at Pierpoint didn’t suit him as well as it did initially because he was no longer adhering to the rules. I think that’s a reflection of that world.

Although MacNeill may not continue playing Kenny in the near future, he found pleasure in the role, acknowledging that it had its challenging aspects, as he puts it.

“I find great pleasure in delving into my work, particularly within the Industry, which brings immense joy. Collaborating with Marisa Abela is truly a priceless experience – it’s like receiving an exquisite gift. This role was exactly what I yearned for, and it feels wonderful to be kind or self-aware in this project.

In regards to Season 4, which has already completed filming, MacNeill can’t wait to join the audience, eagerly anticipating the upcoming surprises and plot twists.

He enthusiastically shares, ‘I can’t contain my excitement!’ He believes that season 3 was exceptional, remarking that it seemed to elevate significantly in scope. It had an expansive feel to it, as if it encompassed grand themes, and the story arcs were incredibly captivating.

He expressed: “I’m genuinely thrilled to discover the direction of season 4 since Pierpoint is out of the picture. Notably, these characters are relentless. I believe Harper Stern, Eric Tao, and Yasmin – I simply adore observing them, I could watch them endlessly. I have no clue where it leads, but it’s bound to be a captivating spectacle, without a doubt, as Mickey [Down] and Konrad [Kay] are such insightful writers.

In the upcoming season of Industry, we won’t see Harry Lawtey playing Robert Spearing, but it will feature actors like Charlie Heaton from Stranger Things, Claire Forlani (Departure), Kal Penn (Designated Survivor), Max Minghella from The Handmaid’s Tale, Kiernan Shipka of The Last Showgirl, Jack Farthing from The Serial Killer’s Wife, and Toheeb Jimoh (Ted Lasso) and Amy James-Kelly (Coronation Street).

In this new installment, Marisa Abela, Myha’la, Ken Leung, Sagar Radia, Miriam Petche, and Kit Harington are back to continue their roles, ensuring another round of anticipated tension among the main cast members.

Industry is on BBC iPlayer in the UK. The drama airs on HBO in the US.
