Inside Princess Diana’s Niece Lady Eliza Spencer’s Engagement Party

I was so thrilled to hear that Lady Eliza Spencer, Princess Diana’s niece, had her engagement party in beautiful Cape Town! It’s wonderful news after she and Channing Millerd, who she’s been with for ten years, got engaged a few months ago. I’m so happy for them both!

Lady Kitty Spencer, age 33—niece of the late Princess Diana—shared glimpses of a recent festive event with her Instagram followers on December 22nd. She reposted photos showing off a beautiful mini dress by Galia Lahav. The dress was A-line, featured white floral details over a sheer top, and had a square neckline. She completed the look with sparkly heels and a sleek hairstyle.

Channing looked sharp in a blue linen shirt and white pants. Eliza’s twin sister, Amelia Spencer Mallett, turned heads in a light green pleated mini dress. Their mother, Victoria Aitken, and older sister, Kitty Spencer, 34, were also in attendance, along with their half-brother, Samuel Aitken, 22.

Eliza revealed she’s engaged to Channing in July, posting pictures from his romantic proposal in Santorini, Greece. She showcased her diamond ring—a teardrop cut—and wrote, “Forever and ever.”

She later called the moment “an out-of-body experience.”

“It was incredibly emotional – I was laughing one minute and crying the next,” she told Hello! magazine. “I have no idea how he managed to do it all, but it was truly special. He went above and beyond, and created a setting more beautiful than I could have ever imagined. It felt like a dream come true.”

Afterward, the couple shared a quiet, romantic dinner by candlelight. They decided to keep their wonderful news to themselves for a little while, wanting to savor the moment before sharing it with family and friends—including Amelia and her husband, Greg Mallett.

We celebrated with champagne, reflecting on the past nine years and how far we’d come. Our first priority was to share the news with Amelia. We FaceTimed her and Greg, and then called our families. It was a very emotional moment, and there were lots of tears.

Eliza and Greg first met almost 15 years ago at a dinner party Greg hosted in South Africa, where Eliza and her sisters grew up.

Eliza recalled being single for around two years and not going out much. She hadn’t intended to attend the event, but her friend Amelia and her best friend convinced her to go.

As for their wedding plans, Eliza and Channing have yet to nail down a location.

She reminisced about wonderful memories made in the Mediterranean. It seems everyone we know has gotten married in Cape Town lately! I’ve always wanted to go to Lake Como – it looks incredible. It’s definitely at the top of my travel list, though we haven’t made it there yet.
