I’m so hyped for Invincible Season 4! It’s coming to Amazon Prime Video this March, and it’s going to be intense seeing Mark Grayson deal with everything after that brutal fight with Conquest. Last year, they announced Lee Pace as Thragg, which is amazing casting, and Matthew Rhys will be playing Dinosaurus. But get this – they’re adding another villain, and it’s going to be voiced by someone from The Walking Dead who Robert Kirkman – the creator of Invincible – has worked with for years! I can’t wait to see what they’ve got planned.
Danai Gurira, famous for playing Michonne in The Walking Dead and Okoye in the Marvel movies, will be joining Invincible season four as the character Universa. Amazon revealed the news with a post on Instagram, showing a sneak peek of Universa in action – getting hit by Atom Eve. The post also previewed the return of familiar characters like Omniman, Allen the Alien, and the Guardians of the Globe, along with a first look at the animated Dinosaurus. Even with powerful villains causing trouble, Universa is sure to be a formidable force. You can find the official announcement below.
Who is Invincible’s Universa?
Universa came to Earth looking for energy to save her home world, thinking it was the only way to protect her people. However, her initial plan would have destroyed all life on Earth. Though not as powerful as characters like Omniman or Thragg, Universa is still a formidable opponent and will challenge Mark Grayson and Atom Eve in the upcoming fourth season of the Amazon series. If the show continues to follow the comic books, Universa will likely remain an important character beyond the next season.
The fourth season seems to be following the plot of the original comic book in some ways, based on what we’ve seen so far, but it’s also introducing fresh ideas. The creator, Robert Kirkman, has mentioned a new story arc centered around Damien Darkblood and the world of the underworld.
I was so excited to hear Kirkman talk about Season Four! He mentioned a storyline he’d originally envisioned for the comics, but just never found the space for in Mark’s journey. Apparently, in the comics, that character never went to… well, let’s just say a bad place! We all loved him from the beginning, and honestly, Clancy Brown nailed the performance. They always wanted to bring him back, and Kirkman hinted at a comic storyline they finally got to explore – I’m trying not to spoil it, but it’s awesome!
