Amazon’s TV adaptation of Fallout was a huge hit last year, attracting over 100 million viewers on Prime Video and sparking renewed interest in the Fallout game series. The show’s second season recently launched with its first episode, receiving widespread praise and quickly breaking viewership records.
Fans are just as excited for the new season as they were for the first, but this time episodes will be released weekly on Wednesdays. Plus, later in the season, a truly iconic Fallout actor might make an appearance, which is a welcome surprise!
Ron Perlman is an actor many people recognize from his roles as Hellboy in the *Hellboy* films and Clay Morrow in *Sons of Anarchy*. However, *Fallout* fans know him as the distinctive voice narrating the beginning of almost every game in the series, including titles like *Fallout 1*, *2*, *Tactics*, *3*, *New Vegas*, and *76*. He also provided voice work for characters like Butch Harris in the original *Fallout* and the newscaster in *Fallout 4*, as well as the outro narration for many of the games he introduced.
Ron Perlman’s iconic deep voice has been featured in every Fallout game, including Fallout Tactics: Brotherhood of Steel, and he’s best known for delivering the famous line, “War never changes.” Because of this, fans have been eager to know if he’ll be involved in the new TV series. When asked about it by Dexerto, Bethesda’s Todd Howard hinted that it’s likely he will be.
We really like working with Ron, and we’ve done so quite a bit,” Howard explained, adding that they didn’t want to lock down any single ending as the definitive one for New Vegas. He continued, saying they’re considering how to best utilize his voice and find the right role for him.
This doesn’t necessarily mean Perlman will be in Season 2, but it does suggest that the show’s creators at Bethesda and Amazon are considering how to include him in a way that makes sense for the story.
Interestingly, Perlman attended the Los Angeles premiere of Fallout Season 2 and posed for a photo with the entire cast. This suggests he might appear in the new season, but Howard likely chose not to reveal any details during the interview to avoid spoilers.
At Corpus Christi Comic Con earlier this year, Jonathan Perlman hinted at a potential second season of Fallout when asked about it, playfully stating he “can’t talk about number two.” He then jokingly admitted that by saying that, he’d likely already revealed something.
With Perlman potentially joining Fallout Season 2, fans are speculating about his role. While it’s uncertain, many think he’s the source of the deep, gravelly voice featured in the trailer (you can read a detailed analysis here). Because the voice sounds like those of Super Mutants from the Fallout games, some believe he could be playing Marcus, a popular character from previous games, or a brand new mutant character.
This is all just guesswork, naturally. However, even if we don’t see Perlman in the second season of Fallout, I’m hoping he’ll make an appearance on the show at some point down the line.
If you’re unfamiliar with the Fallout games he voiced, you can experience them on Xbox or PC with an Xbox Game Pass subscription.
Fans are wondering if Ron Perlman should be involved in the upcoming Fallout TV series. Would you like to see him return, perhaps as the narrator like he was in the games, or as a character within the show? Let us know your thoughts in the comments!
