2025 marked the end of My Hero Academia‘s main story, with the final episode airing earlier this month after Studio BONES concluded Izuku Midoriya and Class 1-A’s journey. However, fans won’t have to say goodbye to the My Hero Academia universe completely! My Hero Academia: Vigilantes is returning for a second season in January, and, surprisingly, the recent Jump Festa event announced that the main series will also be continuing as a new anime.
At this year’s Jump Festa, BONES announced a new anime project that will continue the story of My Hero Academia beyond the original series finale. This is exciting news, especially for fans of the manga, as the anime didn’t include some key moments from the manga’s ending. After finishing the manga, creator Kohei Horikoshi added extra content to expand on the characters’ stories, such as a date between Midoriya and Ochaco, which was highlighted in the anime’s final arc. While details are still coming, fans can look forward to more adventures with Deku and his classmates – it’s not the end they thought it was!
A new episode, titled “More,” will stream on Crunchyroll (except in Asia) starting May 2, 2026. This episode, set eight years after the students graduate, is based on a bonus chapter from the final volume of the manga and focuses on Deku and his classmates.
What Lies Ahead For Class 1-A?

Regarding the future of My Hero Academia, creator Kohei Horikoshi hasn’t indicated any plans to continue the story beyond its current conclusion. With All For One and Shigaraki defeated, Deku and his friends have achieved their dream of a better world. The anime’s finale even showed a potential new villain receiving help, suggesting a possible end to the ongoing conflict against Hero Society.
Good news for fans! Next month, My Hero Academia: Vigilantes will continue to expand the world of My Hero Academia. The spin-off will follow characters like Crawler, Pop Step, and Knuckleduster, but it will also delve into the pasts of some well-known pro heroes. If the anime stays true to the original manga, we can expect to see younger versions of heroes like Eraserhead, Present Mic, Midnight, All Might, Mirko, and others as they began their careers.
Even though Shigaraki and All For One have been defeated, My Hero Academia could continue with many more stories. The series ended with All Might giving Deku a new suit, letting him return to hero work after a long break. Deku is now a teacher at UA Academy, and it seems likely he could manage both teaching and being a hero.
