Jacob Elordi is feeling euphoric at the 2026 Oscars.
Jacob Elordi, known for his role in Euphoria, fulfilled a promise he made to his mother, Melissa Elordi, 13 years ago: bringing her as his date to the award ceremony on March 15th.
The actor, nominated for a supporting actor award for his role as The Creature in Frankenstein, wore a timeless Bottega Veneta suit on the red carpet. His mother accompanied him, wearing a black gown adorned with vibrant red and blue sequined flowers. (See all the celebrity arrivals here.)
Jacob told Melissa he was in love with her when he was still young, but his parents doubted it would last.
He revealed on Jimmy Kimmel Live! in January that he was taking his mother to the Oscars. He explained that he’d promised her when he was fifteen he would bring her, and he intended to keep that promise.
My mom always had complete faith in me. I recall my dad, being a dad, suggesting I needed a backup plan, questioning if my dream was realistic. I responded by saying my alternative plan was to win an Oscar.
Looking back, Jacob was absolutely right about that movie! Even though Sean Penn won the Oscar for Best Actor, Frankenstein still really shined. It took home awards for Best Costume Design, Makeup and Hairstyling, and Production Design – a huge win for the whole team, and a testament to their incredible work.
The trophy was well-deserved, as the 28-year-old dedicated at least 10 hours daily to applying makeup – a process that involved wearing more than two dozen prosthetic pieces.
Director Guillermo del Toro described the creative process as similar to a priest preparing for a ceremony. He told TopMob News in October that it involves many layers – like the robes and accompanying guard. He explained that filmmakers need to consider, ‘This is how we’re presenting the monster, and we’re intentionally bringing it to life.’
The filmmaker explained that the final product was both deeply moving and lovely. They described the acting as raw and incredibly genuine, portraying a vulnerability that felt almost childlike and was profoundly affecting.

Jacob agreed, describing his transformation as “consuming.”
He explained to Netflix’s Tudum that transforming into the character involves a noticeable change in skin tone and texture. His facial features also shift. Once the costume – complete with authentic leather, furs, and a substantial weight – is added, the transformation feels completely real.
Honestly, watching Jacob become the monster was incredible. He didn’t just put on a costume, he totally transformed inside. He actually said it himself – there’s a moment where you just have to completely disconnect from everything, leave reality behind, and just be the creature. It was… mesmerizing. I felt like I was watching a complete mental shift, and it was honestly the most captivating part of the whole thing!
He described his preparation for the role as a process of emotional detachment. ‘You have to shut yourself off,’ he said, ‘block out distractions, and fundamentally change your perspective on everyday things. Even simple routines like eating and showering need to feel different, almost as if they’re part of a new life, to allow you to fully transform into the character.’
