Netflix has removed the popular spy movies that were considered groundbreaking for the genre. They are no longer available to stream on the platform as of April 21st.
Until recently, Netflix was the streaming home for all 26 James Bond films. Now, the movies have moved, and while they might appear on other platforms from time to time, they’ll eventually return to Prime Video and MGM+.

It was expected that James Bond wouldn’t stay on Netflix for long. The streaming service announced the movies would only be available for three months, starting in January 2026.
When Amazon bought MGM, their goal was to keep licensing out MGM’s famous collection of movies and shows to streaming services and TV channels worldwide. The recent deal to bring these films and series, including James Bond and shows like Hunters, to Netflix is a continuation of that plan. According to Chris Ottinger, Head of Worldwide Distribution at Amazon MGM Studios, this agreement shows the ongoing global demand for high-quality stories and the positive relationship between Amazon and Netflix.
What’s Next for James Bond?
With the departure of older James Bond films from Netflix, Amazon MGM Studios is now focused on developing the next chapter for the iconic spy.
Everyone at CinemaCon kept asking about the new James Bond, and honestly, I was right there with them! Courtenay Valenti, who’s heading up film at Amazon MGM Studios, addressed the question, but quickly added a little ‘hold your horses’ to the excitement. Basically, she acknowledged the buzz but didn’t want us getting too eager for an announcement just yet.
We’re approaching this with a lot of care and respect,” she said. “Sharing this next story with everyone is a dream come true for our team, and we understand the importance of getting it right.
