Star Trek Reveals Deep Space Nine’s Replacement Series

Fans are finally getting a first look at the next chapter in the Star Trek universe, following Deep Space Nine. A new preview has offered more details about the upcoming story.

IDW Publishing has announced its comic book releases for May, including a preview of issue #7. This preview reveals the name of the new station replacing Deep Space Nine: Deep Space Hope. The story follows the crew of the U.S.S. Omega as they struggle to maintain the Federation’s ideals in a fractured galaxy. While cooperation is dwindling, hope remains thanks to a research station at Deep Space Hope.

Deep Space Nine’s Replacement Teases an Exciting New Star Trek Adventure

Details about Deep Space Hope will be revealed in Star Trek: The Last Starship #7, coming out on May 20th. However, IDW has hinted that this location will be crucial to the plot. According to the publisher, Deep Space Hope represents a final chance for hope in a bleak universe – a way to restore order, if Captain Sato and her crew are brave enough to take it.

The comic series Star Trek: The Last Starship recently released its sixth issue, leaving the Federation in a precarious position. With the Federation fractured and vulnerable, Captain Sato struggles to uphold Starfleet’s values while facing increasing threats. The situation becomes even more critical, and the story will continue to unfold next month.

As a long-time Star Trek fan, Deep Space Nine has always been one of my favorite settings – that station just felt so different with its mix of Starfleet and Bajoran crew members. It’s cool to hear they’re building on that legacy with a new ship! I’m really looking forward to issue eight of the comics, coming out in June. It sounds like things are about to get intense – apparently, Agnes Jurati, the Borg Queen, is leaving the crew and trying to take control. I can’t wait to see how that plays out!

New Star Trek Series Explores One of the Lore’s Most Destructive Events

As a huge Star Trek fan, I’m really excited about Star Trek: The Last Starship! It takes place quite a while after something called ‘The Burn’ – this massive, galaxy-wide disaster happened around 3069. Basically, almost all Dilithium suddenly stopped working, and because it was used to power everything – from starship engines to entire planets – it all went critical and exploded. It’s a pretty wild setup!

The first issue of The Last Starship came out in September 2025, telling the story of the last ship left after a galactic catastrophe called the Burn. The crew, a mismatched group, travels through space with limited supplies, grappling with the loss of the Federation they once knew. As they approach Deep Space Hope, even more significant events are unfolding. Star Trek fans will have to wait until the seventh issue, releasing next month, to find out what happens next.

Star Trek: The Last Starship #7 goes on sale May 20 from IDW Publishing.
