One former James Bond actor wouldn’t mind starring in Denis Villeneuve’s 007 movie.
The well-known filmmaker Denis Villeneuve, known for his work on Dune and Arrival, has been chosen to direct the upcoming James Bond movie by Amazon MGM Studios. This move comes after the company secured complete creative authority over the 007 franchise through a partnership agreement with Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli.
What did Pierce Brosnan say about James Bond?
In an interview with Radio Times, as reported by Variety, Pierce Brosnan has expressed a willingness to reprise the role of James Bond if director Denis Villeneuve has a compelling idea.
He stated that although the idea of an older and rugged Bond might not initially appeal to everyone, if director Villeneuve had an interesting concept, he would definitely consider it. He further added that such a movie could still provide good entertainment with possibilities of humor, use of wigs and makeup.
In 1995’s GoldenEye, Pierce Brosnan first appeared as James Bond. Martin Campbell directed this movie. After that, he starred in four more films: Tomorrow Never Dies (1997), The World Is Not Enough (1999), Die Another Day (2002). Daniel Craig took over the role in Casino Royale, which was released in 2006.
In the upcoming James Bond movie directed by Villeneuve, it’s expected that a new actor will take on the role of Bond. However, there’s a possibility that Brosnan might make an appearance as a cameo or in a smaller role within the film. Brosnan remains active in films and is set to play Ron Ritchie in The Thursday Murder Club, which is scheduled for release later this month.
Brosnan added about Villeneuve’s film: ‘I can feel the growing anticipation for who will take on the role of James Bond next. There are numerous talented contenders, and I’m certain they’ll deliver an entertaining masterpiece.’
The James Bond film from Amazon MGM Studios has yet to announce its release date, given that Villeneuve is engrossed in the production of Dune 3 at present. It’s safe to say we may have a few more years to wait.
