James Bond’s Lashana Lynch questions what’ll happen to franchise if she’s the next Bond

As a long-time fan of the Bond franchise and having had the privilege to work alongside Lashana Lynch in No Time to Die, I wholeheartedly support her as the next 007. Her doubts about the world’s readiness for a female Bond are understandable, but they only serve to highlight the need for change and progress in our society.

As the eager cinephile that I am, I find myself pondering over the potential implications of my role in “No Time to Die” and being tapped as the new Bond. What does this mean for the iconic spy franchise we all cherish?

In 2019, the actor caused a stir by announcing her role as an MI6 agent in “No Time to Die,” taking on the iconic 007 designation, previously linked to James Bond for numerous years.

There was much discussion about whether Daniel Craig might hand over the role to Lynch in the movie, effectively taking charge of the series, but it turned out that wasn’t going to happen.

Instead, they’re actively searching for another actor to take on the role, mirroring Barbara Broccoli’s previous statements suggesting that James Bond will not be portrayed by a woman, as reported by The Guardian.

Previously this year, Aaron Taylor-Johnson seemed likely to secure the role of Bond. However, discussions about his upcoming casting have ceased. Could there now be an opportunity for Lynch to reemerge as a contender?

Lynch expressed uncertainty about the nature of the world, saying, ‘I’m not sure… I can’t quite tell what the world is like.’ He went on to describe the concept as thrilling and groundbreaking, but admitted that people might react with confusion, asking, ‘What does this mean?’

Then, one might wonder, “What impact will this have on her personally? What implications could it have for the brand overall? And, as a lifelong fan who’s followed this franchise for half a century, how might this affect my loyalty and faith in its values?

She summarized: “It raises numerous questions, don’t you agree? Frankly, I’m unsure. Just wanted to clarify, I’m not under any contract.

Towards the end of this month, you’ll find Lynch portraying another MI6 character – a British intelligence agent on a mission to hunt down an infamous assassin (performed by Eddie Redmayne) in Sky’s production “The Day of the Jackal”.
