James Gunn recently shared news about Season 2 of Creature Commandos. The first season, which launched the DC Universe, ran from December 5, 2024, to January 9, 2025. The season finale revealed Indira Varma’s character, The Bride, taking charge of Task Force M – better known as the Creature Commandos. The team includes Doctor Phosphorus (Alan Tudyk), Weasel, and a restored G.I. Robot (both voiced by Sean Gunn), as well as newcomers Nosferata and Khalis, and returning member King Shark from The Suicide Squad.
James Gunn recently shared on Threads that a second season of Creature Commandos is already being made. He told a fan asking about new episodes that the season is in animation and will be released when it’s finished. Gunn also revealed that Season 2 of Creature Commandos will follow the events of Season 2 of Peacemaker, hinting at connections within the DC Universe.
When Can Fans Expect to See ‘Creature Commandos’ Season 2?

HBO Max
There’s no confirmed release date yet for Season 2 of Creature Commandos. Many fans are predicting it will premiere in late 2026, joining Supergirl, Lanterns, and Clayface as one of four DCU shows that year. While Season 2 was announced in February 2025, production didn’t start until June. Considering the time it takes to animate and the fact that it took almost two years from the announcement of Season 1 to its release, Season 2 might not actually arrive until 2027.
The upcoming season follows the events of Peacemaker Season 2, which creates some exciting opportunities for the story. There will be a time jump between the first and second seasons of Creature Commandos, as this series is set before both Superman and the events of Peacemaker Season 2 – we know this because of Rick Flag Jr.’s promotion within the DC Universe. Fans are also wondering if Creature Commandos will premiere before or after James Gunn’s Superman: Man of Tomorrow, and if the two shows were developed together or will influence each other’s storylines.

Following the events of Peacemaker Season 2, Creature Commandos Season 2 could connect to a major storyline from DC Comics called ‘Salvation.’ This arc involves the government capturing people with superpowers and sending them to another dimension. Will the Creature Commandos be responsible for this task, and might they even end up on the ‘Salvation’ planet themselves, similar to what happened to the Suicide Squad in the comics? Season 1 of Creature Commandos introduced us to the new DC Universe, and Season 2 aims to expand it further. The first season began setting up characters like Clayface and the upcoming Sgt. Rock movie, so Season 2 could be crucial for launching the rumored Salvation Run project currently in development at DC Studios.
