When James Gunn announced the next Superman movie, Man of Tomorrow, would feature Superman teaming up with his enemy Lex Luthor, fans immediately speculated a major villain must be driving them to work together. For months, the popular theory was that Brainiac, a classic Superman foe, would finally appear in a live-action film. Reports and rumors suggested this was the case, and even hinted at potential actors to play Brainiac. Now, James Gunn has confirmed everything fans hoped for: Brainiac is indeed the villain in Man of Tomorrow, and the actor who will play him has been revealed.
James Gunn announced on X that Lars Eidinger has been cast as Brainiac. Gunn shared a photo comparing Eidinger to the character to reveal the news.
After a global search for the perfect Brainiac for the upcoming DC Universe projects, we’ve cast Lars Eidinger. We’re thrilled to welcome him to the DCU!
