James Gunn recently used social media to dismiss a rumor about who might be cast in the upcoming The Batman 2.
What The Batman 2 rumor has James Gunn debunked?
Someone on Threads recently asked James Gunn if it was true he’d prevented director Matt Reeves from including a more realistic take on the Batman villain Clayface in the sequel to ‘The Batman’. The rumor claimed this disagreement was causing delays in the scriptwriting process.
Gunn dismissed the idea with a laugh, wondering where anyone would get such a thought. “What? [laughing emoji] I have no idea where that came from! It’s the original script, exactly as it’s always been,” he explained.
It’s been a while in the making, but The Batman Part II is now in development. The first film, released in 2022, was a huge success, earning over $770 million worldwide and starring Robert Pattinson as Batman.
Okay, folks, mark your calendars! I’m hearing that production on The Batman 2 – or The Batman Part II, if you prefer – is officially slated to begin on January 1st, 2026. They’ll be filming at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden just outside London, so get ready for a whole lot of gloomy Gotham vibes coming out of the UK!
Robert Pattinson will be back as Batman in the next movie, but most of the other actors involved haven’t been announced yet. Recent reports suggest Scarlett Johansson will appear, playing Harvey Dent’s wife. We can also expect to see Colin Farrell as The Penguin, Andy Serkis as Alfred, and Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner Gordon return from the first film.
The sequel to The Batman, written by Matt Reeves and Mattson Tomlin, will bring back Jeffrey Wright as Jim Gordon, Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, and Colin Farrell as the Penguin. However, Zoe Kravitz is not currently planned to return as Catwoman/Selina Kyle. Filming is scheduled to start this spring.
The Batman 2 will be released in United States on October 1, 2027.
