Later this year, the DCU will kick off a new era of shows and movies with the releases of Supergirl and Lanterns. But the projects coming after those look even more exciting. These future releases will introduce many powerful heroes and villains to both theaters and television, and while most were already confirmed for the DCU, the status of one project was still unknown. That’s now been clarified: it will officially bring one of DC’s most powerful heroes into the new DCU.
James Gunn announced on X that the comic book debut of Mister Miracle is something to celebrate. He also shared exciting news about a new Mister Miracle animated series, confirming it will be part of the DC Universe. You can read his complete post below.
Mister Miracle is poised to be a major force in the DC Universe. He combines the incredible physical abilities of a New God – like super strength, speed, and intelligence – with his unmatched skills as an escape artist. Not only did he escape the hellish world of Apokolips, but he’s never been held captive by any prison or device. This unique combination of power and skill will make him one of the DCU’s most formidable heroes when he appears.
Mister Miracle Will Bring Major Characters to the DCU

With the confirmation that Mister Miracle is part of the DC Universe, we’re beginning to understand how significant the series will be and what new characters it will introduce. The show will draw from the critically acclaimed comic book series by Tom King and Mitch Gerads, and Tom King will also be an executive producer and showrunner.
The upcoming Mister Miracle project will be based on the comic book series, but will likely be adapted to fit the new DC Universe. Because it’s a Mister Miracle story, it gives James Gunn and Peter Safran the opportunity to introduce many characters connected to Darkseid and the New Gods, including Darkseid himself, who is central to Scott Free’s journey. Other key characters like Big Barda, Granny Goodness, and Orion will also likely appear.
The comic series prominently features the anti-life equation, which is central to Darkseid’s plans. Introducing this concept is significant because, while Brainiac was the first major villain in the DC Universe as seen in Man of Tomorrow, laying the groundwork for Darkseid and his ultimate goal is crucial for establishing him as a major antagonist later on.
The Mister Miracle series currently has no release date.
