After the hit debut of DC Studios’ initial movie release, Superman, James Gunn, the writer and director, shared an exclusive backstage photo for fans on his social media platforms. In this snapshot, David Corenswet and Milly Alcock are pictured together. Corenswet is shown wearing the famous Man of Steel suit, while Alcock dons a jean jacket as she stands next to him. Gunn captioned the picture with the question, “Have you caught #Superman in theaters yet?” The movie has been running for about a month now, and despite its ongoing success, it’s now facing some stiff competition from The Fantastic Four: First Steps and Weapons.
Although Gunn doesn’t have to actively entice audiences to cinemas because word-of-mouth seems to be doing that already, it looks like the co-head of DC Studios has a lot of exciting secrets to share as the film progresses. Alcock makes a brief but impactful appearance as Supergirl at the end of “Superman,” where she crashes the Fortress of Solitude. This is a hint at what viewers can anticipate when her standalone movie, “Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow,” hits theaters on June 26, 2026. Check out Gunn’s behind-the-scenes photo of the Super cousins in the post below.

In a transparent manner, James Gunn, currently jointly leading DC Studios with producer Peter Safran, has been keeping fans updated on social media since his appointment. Not only does he frequently dispel rumors, but he’s also shared an official teaser image of Alcock as Supergirl, responded to fan queries across various platforms, and recently posted a behind-the-scenes photo of him and Safran on social media. Given Gunn’s role as both writer and director for Superman, it’s no wonder he’s been generous with fans online, particularly following the film’s impressive box office performance.
The film featuring Superman has been making waves at the box office, raking in an impressive $300 million domestically and over $500 million globally. This marks the first standalone Superman movie to surpass $300 million domestically, currently earning $325.6 million within the U.S., hinting at a potential finish between $350-$400 million in domestic earnings. In the near future, it’s expected to exceed $600 million worldwide. This film serves as the first official release within the DC Universe, with Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow slated for release next year. Despite its success at the new studio, a direct sequel for Superman may not be in the cards according to Gunn.
Gunn aims to prioritize DC Studios on narrating untold stories rather than following the predictable path of sequels for every film. Instead of just producing follow-ups, he’s concentrating on original content. Following Peacemaker‘s successful first season on HBO Max, Gunn and DC Studios are now preparing for its second season. Recently, production concluded on the live-action Green Lantern series titled Lanterns, while pre-production is underway for Clayface, a project that will feature Tom Rhys Harries in the lead role.
Superman is now playing exclusively in movie theaters.
