
Although the Switch 2 outsold the PS5 in December 2025, the PS5 regained the top spot in the US console market this January, leading in both the number of consoles sold and overall revenue.
Although the console is over five years old and benefited from some remaining holiday deals, it’s still remarkable that Sony’s system performed better than Nintendo’s brand new one, even if the difference wasn’t massive.
Overall sales in the industry increased by 3% compared to last year. While not a huge jump, this is a positive sign, especially considering the current economic difficulties.
Things have been pretty quiet lately – January is usually a slow month for games anyway. But I’m still seeing a ton of people playing Ghost of Yotei, which some folks online aren’t too happy about, honestly. The only brand new game that actually made the charts this week was Code Vein 2, which is cool to see.
