A PlayStation 1 game that was previously only available in Japan is coming to Western markets soon. Many games originally launched in Japan before being released elsewhere in the 1990s, but some never made it out of Japan. Now, after over two decades, one of those previously unavailable games will finally be available to players in North America, Europe, and other regions in just over a month.
This week, XSEED Games announced that Milano’s Odd Job Collection will be released in December. Originally released in Japan for the PlayStation 1 in 1999 as Milano no Arubaito, the game features Milano completing various mini-game jobs. Despite only being available in Japan for years, Milano no Arubaito gained a dedicated fanbase overseas. Now, this remastered version, Milano’s Odd Job Collection, will be available in other regions.
When school lets out, 11-year-old Milano faces an unexpected summer. Her mom needs to go to the hospital, so she’s sent to stay with her uncle – but he’s on vacation! Left to her own devices, Milano decides to have an adventure. Over the next 40 days, she takes on a series of quirky part-time jobs – from delivering pizzas to caring for patients and even milking flying cows – hoping to make the summer memorable. She also hopes to fix up her uncle’s house and have some fun along the way.
Generally, Milano’s Odd Job Collection plays much like the original game. It has been visually updated, but still maintains the classic 32-bit look. This updated version will also include both English and Japanese language support, as well as features like save states and a rewind function.
The game Milano’s Odd Job Collection will be released on December 9th and will cost $14.99. Originally available only on PlayStation 1, this updated version will be available on almost all platforms, including PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
