Jelly Roll Reveals He Broke His Collarbone in ATV Accident

Jelly Roll‘s outing took an unpretty turn.

The singer of “I Am Not Okay” shared that he broke several bones in an ATV accident that happened before the 2026 Grammys.

Jelly Roll explained in a video posted to Instagram on March 1st that this was the first time he’d ridden the vehicle since he injured his collarbone. He admitted he was nervous about getting back on, but felt it was important to face his fear quickly before it got worse.

He was amazed at how good the four-wheeler looked, especially since he’d thought he’d completely wrecked it.

The 41-year-old explained the accident happened right before the February music awards show, where he won three awards: Best Contemporary Country Album, Best Country Duo/Group Performance with Shaboozey, and Best Contemporary Christian Music Performance/Song.

You know, looking back on Grammy week was a bit of a challenge! I was actually running around with a broken collarbone, and honestly, every hug felt like a tiny disaster. I kept it to myself, but each squeeze was incredibly painful – I really had to bite back the tears! It was a memorable week, to say the least, but definitely a test of my pain tolerance. As a lifestyle tip, sometimes you just have to power through, even when it really hurts, and keep a smile on your face!

Despite a recent setback, Jason Bradley DeFord, known as Jelly Roll, wasn’t going to be deterred from continuing to take chances.

He explained that the problem wasn’t with the machine, but with how it was being used. Ultimately, it was a user mistake. He finished with a lighthearted reminder to try again and not give up.

The singer of “Bloodline” wasn’t crying at the Grammys just because of his injury. He was actually overcome with emotion, realizing how far he’d come and completing a long-held dream.

He admitted to Zuri Hall during Live From TopMob: Grammys that he was delayed because he needed about half an hour to calm down and process his emotions. He explained he hadn’t had a good cry like that in a long time, and it was a very relieving experience.

Jelly Roll’s wife, Bunnie XO, always believed he was destined for success. He’s a father to two children from previous relationships: 17-year-old Bailee Ann and 9-year-old Noah, and she knew he’d eventually achieve great things.

She told Zuri, “I truly believe there’s a woman supporting every man. We were actually discussing this on the drive over – it feels like a really bizarre, unexpected story. He claims he didn’t anticipate any of this, but I knew something was happening.”

Jelly Roll loves getting back to riding his ATV, but keep reading to learn about other celebrities who have shared their health challenges.

He explained that just a few weeks or a month prior, he was able to squat 295 pounds, but now he can’t even do a squat, or even stand on one leg without falling. He compared the feeling to having a stroke.

Amy Schumer is grateful for the internet, despite its downsides, because it helped her discover a health issue. After noticing she looked “puffier” during interviews, Schumer was surprised when doctors began commenting on social media, expressing concern that she might have Cushing syndrome. They pointed out changes in her face and suggested a possible link to high cortisol levels or steroid injections. This prompted Schumer to realize she had been receiving steroid injections after a breast reduction and C-section. Without the online commentary, she might never have connected the injections to her condition. Thankfully, doctors determined Schumer has a form of Cushing syndrome that will resolve on its own, and she’s now relieved to be healthy. She shared this positive news in a February 2024 newsletter, calling it the “greatest news imaginable.”

During a December 2024 game, an AHL player was accidentally cut in the face by another player’s skate, requiring 25 stitches to close the wound. She suddenly began having stroke-like symptoms, initially unable to respond when Justin asked if she was okay. She then realized she couldn’t speak and the right side of her face started to droop.

Although her symptoms briefly subsided, Hailey went to the hospital where doctors discovered she’d had a small blood clot travel to her brain, which they identified as a TIA (Transient Ischemic Attack).

Further testing at UCLA revealed Hailey had a hole in her heart, called a patent foramen ovale (PFO). Doctors determined the blood clot had passed through this hole and traveled to her brain, causing the TIA.

Hailey underwent a successful procedure to close the PFO and is now recovering well.

It was a really tough year for both Justin and Hailey. Not long after Hailey’s health scare, Justin revealed he was battling Ramsay Hunt syndrome. He shared a video explaining how it had caused paralysis on one side of his face – he couldn’t blink, smile, or even move his nostril on that side. He even said it was becoming difficult for him to eat. It was so scary to see! Thankfully, after a while, the paralysis started to go away. Hailey appeared on Good Morning America and said he was doing really well and feeling much better. It was a random and frightening situation, but she was so grateful he was going to be okay. As a fan, it was such a relief to hear he was recovering!

In his 2024 Netflix special, What Had Happened Was…, he explained that he suffered from a severe headache one day while in Atlanta. Before he could even take an aspirin, he lost consciousness and doesn’t remember the next 20 days.

Initially, a doctor gave him a cortisone shot and sent him home, but his sister, Deidra Dixon, was worried and took him to the hospital. There, doctors discovered he had a brain bleed that caused a stroke.

After surgery, Jamie woke up in a wheelchair on May 4th, unable to walk. He then traveled to Chicago for extensive rehabilitation and therapy. He expressed his gratitude for the prayers he received, saying he needed every single one.

The reality TV star said she temporarily stopped breathing while running a mile during the first challenge on the NBC show.

She shared on the show Fit for TV: The Reality of The Biggest Loser that her memory of the event was fragmented. She recalled hearing a helicopter, feeling like she was floating, and then seeing her grandfather before everything went dark. Afterwards, she saw light, which led her to realize she had died that day.

She explained that her organs were failing. She hadn’t known she had rhabdomyolysis, a condition where the body essentially starts to shut down.

As a huge fan of Emilia Clarke, I was completely floored when I read her incredibly honest essay in The New Yorker. She described a terrifying experience she went through while filming Game of Thrones. It started with a severe headache at the gym, and she ended up collapsing and being violently sick. She quickly realized something was seriously wrong – she knew her brain was damaged.

It turned out she’d suffered a subarachnoid hemorrhage, a life-threatening stroke caused by a ruptured aneurysm. She had immediate surgery, which she described as unbelievably painful. Even after the first surgery, recovery wasn’t straightforward. She struggled with aphasia, finding it hard to speak and often just muttering nonsense. Thankfully, that passed after about a week, and she was able to leave the hospital after a month.

But the ordeal wasn’t over. A scan in 2013 revealed the aneurysm had doubled in size, requiring a second, even more invasive surgery. She woke up screaming from the pain, and doctors told her things were critical – another operation was essential, this time requiring them to open her skull.

It’s such a relief to hear that she’s now fully recovered and at 100%. Her bravery in sharing her story is truly inspiring, and it really puts things into perspective.

Cori ended up staying in the hospital longer than expected due to other health issues. While she could have gone home after the stroke, she was also dealing with complications from lupus and kidney problems.

Fortunately, Cori is now recovering well. She says she’s feeling great and has been working to regain some motor skills, but is otherwise doing fine.

Shailene Woodley struggled with significant health issues throughout her early twenties. In a September 2024 podcast interview, she explained that she experienced hearing loss, extreme fatigue – unable to walk for more than five minutes without needing to rest for hours – and persistent stomach pain. She faced confusion as different doctors offered varying diagnoses.

Determined to find answers, Shailene, who has kept her specific condition private, combined traditional medical care with holistic and herbal remedies. This search for well-being lasted for ten years.

She explained that the physical discomfort led to deeper issues, including fear of food and struggles with body image, identity, and feeling comfortable in her own body.

Fortunately, after a long journey of addressing both her physical and mental health, Shailene is now feeling much better and is happy to report that she is very healthy.
