Jennifer Lawrence has no hard feelings about the Margot Robbie role she was once in contention for.

Actress Margaret Qualley shared that she didn’t get the part of Sharon Tate in Quentin Tarantino’s 2019 movie, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, because online commenters said she wasn’t attractive enough to play the role.

Jennifer shared this information while on Josh Horowitz’s podcast, Happy Sad Confused, after Josh mentioned Quentin’s interest in collaborating with her.

He confirmed that’s what happened, recalling a conversation from the January 12th show. He said the role of Jennifer Jason Leigh in The Hateful Eight was initially intended for me.

The Academy Award winner admitted the story was true, saying, “I rejected the offer, and I regret it.” Josh then revealed that the director later hoped she would star in his 2019 movie with Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio.

“I think Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, too,” he asked, “didn’t he want you?”

The star of No Hard Feelings also verified this, and then revealed the unexpected reason she decided not to accept the highly sought-after part.

She explained that he had, but then people reacted negatively, saying she wasn’t attractive enough to portray Sharon Tate.

After Josh doubted her claim, the 35-year-old doubled down on her story.

She insisted she believed it was true, or at least that she’d repeated the story so many times she’d started to believe it herself. Alternatively, she thought he never seriously considered her for the role, and people online just seized on criticizing her appearance.

People weren’t the only ones talking about Jennifer’s looks back then. Sharon Tate’s sister, Debra, also thought Margot was a good choice for the role, and her beauty was a factor in that decision.

In a 2017 interview with TMZ, she said that while both actresses are very talented, she preferred Margot Robbie. She explained this was because Robbie’s appearance and poise reminded her of Sharon Tate.

Debra explained she wasn’t focusing on Jennifer Lawrence as a potential Sharon, and clarified it wasn’t a personal issue. She simply didn’t feel Lawrence possessed the necessary beauty for the role, admitting it was a harsh assessment but maintaining she had certain expectations.
