The show will conclude after its fifth season on May 20th. But don’t worry, Prime Video plans to continue the story with a brand new prequel, even after canceling other shows in the series.
The new series, called Vought Rising, will focus on Jensen Ackles as Soldier Boy and will also feature Aya Cash reprising her role as Stormfront. Creator Eric Kripke recently discussed the possibility of a second season.
Vought Rising Could Continue
Kripke hinted at a potential Season 2, explaining that while the first season wraps up with a complete and satisfying story, it also leaves the door open for future adventures in a new world. Whether or not the show continues ultimately depends on those in charge.
I was really glad to hear them talk about Gen V getting canceled. It’s a bummer, but the creator seems to think there’s still a lot more story to tell with those characters. He hinted it might not be directly through another season of Gen V, but he’s hoping to find a way to continue their journeys in other shows set within the Vought universe. That gives me some hope, honestly!
The new prequel series wasn’t initially planned as a one-time event, meaning it could potentially run for many seasons. Jensen Ackles revealed that the idea was to explore the 1950s with his character, Soldier Boy, and that the creators envisioned a long-term story. He stated, “The intent is to do multiple seasons.”
He explained that he quickly agreed, interrupting whoever was speaking to confirm he understood they were planning a show that would last for multiple seasons.
Season 5 of The Boys has given us a more complex look at Soldier Boy and hinted at the upcoming Vought Rising storyline. The latest episodes also suggest a return for Clara Vought, also known as Stormfront, and showed Soldier Boy connecting with Homelander over their shared grief for a fallen superhero.
What to Expect From Vought Rising?
The popular series The Boys will conclude after its fifth season, but the story isn’t over. A new spinoff will explore the origins of Vought International, taking viewers back to the 1950s. This new show will center on a dark mystery, featuring the early adventures of Soldier Boy and the villainous schemes of Stormfront.
The series will feature a talented cast including Jared Ackles, Bel Powley, Elizabeth Posey (known from Heels), Will Hochman (Blue Bloods), Mason Dye (Stranger Things), Jorden Myrie (Bridgerton), Nicolò Pasetti (Industry), Ricky Staffieri (The Bear), Brian J. Smith (Sense8), and KiKi Layne (The Old Guard).
New episodes of The Boys Season 5 will be released on Wednesdays until the finale, which airs on Prime Video on May 20th. A spin-off series, Vought Rising, is scheduled to premiere on Prime Video in 2027.
