Jeremy Renner Accused of Sending Lewd Photos & Making ICE Threat Against Colleague

Jeremy Renner, known for his role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, is being accused of threatening a colleague. Yi Zhou, who is working with Renner on two projects – the documentary Chronicles of Disney and the animated film Stardust Future – claims Renner threatened to contact Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

A report in the San Francisco Chronicle states that Renner allegedly sent explicit images to Zhou without her consent and also threatened to report her to immigration authorities. Zhou shared details of these accusations on Instagram, which is included below.

Earlier this year, filmmaker Zhou asked Jeremy Renner to participate in her projects, a documentary called Chronicles of Disney and a feature film titled Stardust Future. However, in a recent Instagram post, Zhou revealed she was upset by Renner’s unsolicited behavior. She stated that Renner contacted her directly in June and sent her personal, intimate photos, something she says he has done before according to reports. Renner has not yet responded to requests for comment from the San Francisco Chronicle regarding these allegations.

In October, Zhou revealed to the Daily Mail that she was dating Renner, but he reportedly denied the relationship and wouldn’t support the two films they’d collaborated on. In an Instagram post, Zhou explained that when she privately confronted him about past inappropriate behavior and asked for respectful treatment as a woman and filmmaker, he allegedly threatened to report her to immigration authorities. She stated that no woman or creative professional should have to endure such emotional distress and pressure while trying to defend her reputation and artistic work.

Stardust Future Film is the First AI Feature

In October, it was revealed that Jeremy Renner will voice a character in Stardust Future: Stars and Scars, a groundbreaking film that’s entirely created using artificial intelligence. Renner will play the Oracle of Time, the narrator who guides viewers through a story that begins with the universe’s creation and extends to the year 2080. This project marks Renner’s return to voice acting following his accident in 2023. The film’s production company, Into the Sun Entertainment, plans to submit it for consideration at the 2026 Academy Awards, potentially in categories like best animated feature, original score, original song, sound, film editing, and visual effects.

When Stardust Future was announced, Zhou explained that the film uniquely combines 2D and 3D animation, a style she calls a “distinct narrative approach.” She also noted that the changes in the film’s visuals reflect its key themes – the differences between the past and present, and between fantasy and reality. Zhou’s company believes this is the first full-length movie to use AI to create animation in this particular style.
