Jeremy Renner Gets Real About The ‘Only’ Reason He Decided To Do Knives Out 3 In The Aftermath Of His Snowplow Accident

Following a year-long hiatus from television since his snowplow incident, Jeremy Renner is gearing up for his first big-screen role since 2019’s “Avengers: Endgame” (with the exception of a voice cameo in “Black Widow”). Renner will be part of the 2025 movie lineup, starring in Rian Johnson’s upcoming film, colloquially known as “Knives Out 3” and officially titled “Wake Up Dead Man“. Despite being a subscription-exclusive project for Netflix, Renner accepted the role primarily because it provided him an opportunity to reassess his professional path following the accident.

After regaining his health following a near-fatal snowplow accident on January 1, 2023, Renner made the decision to only accept projects that aligned with his family commitments. Fortunately for him, the project titled “Wake Up Dead Man” met those criteria, as he shared during his interviews promoting his book “My Next Breath“.

My approach to work will be: I’ll only take on jobs if they involve the people I cherish, whether that’s my family or friends. The memories of my career and jobs didn’t follow me when I passed away; instead, it was the love-filled experiences that mattered. Therefore, I intend to nurture those connections with the people I hold dear. Last summer, I took 15 loved ones with me to film Knives Out in London, and the reason was simply because I could share this experience with them all.

Wake Up Dead Man’s First Look Photo Gave Me A Theory About Josh O’Connor’s Role In Knives Out 3

If Jeremy Renner’s family couldn’t join him in London during the filming of “Wake Up Dead Man,” another actor might have played his role this winter. Thankfully, that didn’t occur since Renner prioritized his family over the project. As a successful actor at this point in his career, he can decline roles if they interfere with spending time with his loved ones during production.

It’s worth mentioning that Jeremy Renner has previously made a mark in the “Knives Out” universe, with his image appearing on a bottle of hot sauce in “Glass Onion”. Contrary to expectations, Renner won’t be portraying himself in “Wake Up Dead Man”, instead, he will play Dr. Nat Sharp. Similar to the first two movies, Daniel Craig’s character Benoit Blanc will be delving into a murder mystery once more, and it seems that Dr. Sharp may become entwined in the sinister events unfolding.

In addition to Josh O’Connor, Glenn Close, Josh Brolin, Mila Kunis, Kerry Washington, Andrew Scott, Cailee Spaeny, Daryl McCormack, and Thomas Haden Church, this production also features a star-studded cast. Whether Wake Up Dead Man will receive a special theatrical release similar to Glass Onion is yet to be determined. However, you can stream it on Netflix starting from December 12th.
