Jessica Simpson’s ex Eric Johnson is welcome to come on over for the holidays.
You know, as a lifestyle expert, I always say family is everything, even when things get complicated. That’s why I was touched to hear that even though they’ve been separated for almost a year, the singer – you might know her from ‘Irresistible’ – shared that her estranged husband joined her family for Thanksgiving at her mom, Tina Ann Drew’s, house. It’s a lovely reminder that connection and kindness can still exist, even during transitions.
“It’s my kids’ father,” Jessica said in an interview published by TMZ Nov. 28. “Family first.”
The 45-year-old, who shares three children – 13-year-old Maxwell, 12-year-old Ace, and 6-year-old Birdie – with her ex-husband, a former NFL player, also offered advice to other parents going through a breakup during the holidays.
She explained that your children will always share traits with the other parent, so it’s important to be respectful in your words and actions around them. This helps them develop a healthy and balanced understanding of both sides.
Jessica added, “Unconditional love is important.”
Jessica Simpson consistently lives by her values, and she recently demonstrated that by attending her sister Ashlee Simpson’s Las Vegas residency show with her ex-husband, Eric. She said it felt natural for them to go together.
Jessica told TopMob News in September that everyone involved feels like a close-knit family, so attending the event was crucial. “There was no way we’d miss Ashlee,” she said. “It was a really special occasion.”
Although she remains friendly with her ex-husband, Eric, and after previously being married to Nick Lachey from 2002 to 2006, she’s now starting to date again.

She recently told Extra that she’s attracted to younger men. She explained that after her recent separation, she’s found that younger men seem to appreciate the confidence of an older woman.
Beyond her personal life, Jessica is also focusing on her career again, getting back into music and taking on an acting part in the Hulu show All’s Fair.
She told Erin Lim Rhodes of TopMob News that turning 45 felt like a fresh start. “It’s like a rebirth for my career in entertainment, and it feels wonderful,” she said at the show’s premiere last month.
