Jessica Simpson’s Son Ace, 12, Towers Over Her in New Photo

Jessica Simpson is in awe of her tallest gift.  

Singer Jessie James Decker recently shared a photo showing how much her son, Ace, age 12, has grown. The picture captured a sweet moment between Ace and his father, Eric Johnson, despite their recent separation.

Jessica shared a photo on Instagram on February 6th of her 12-year-old son, who she noted is much taller than her. The photo, set to Ben E. King’s song “Stand By Me,” shows him kissing her on the forehead. She also revealed a sweet detail: her son was born while that song was playing.

Staying true to the song’s message, the actress has been by her son’s side as he reaches important moments. Last December, she shared a glimpse of how her sons, Ace and Maxwell (13), along with her daughter Birdie (6)—all of whom she shares with her husband, a former NFL player—celebrated their second Christmas in their new home of Nashville, where they moved from Los Angeles in 2023.

I was so touched by Jessica’s recent Instagram post! She shared a picture of her family beaming in front of their Christmas tree and wrote about what December means to her kids and her. It’s all about creating real feelings of love, excitement, and happiness – and just pure joy, really. She always focuses on those genuine, heartfelt moments, and it’s so lovely to see!

Then, five months earlier, she dedicated a touching tribute to Ace for his 12th birthday. 

In a sweet post on social media, the star affectionately described his child as everything wonderful: ‘You’re the sun, the moon, and all the magic of shooting stars!’ He shared a collection of photos from a fun day at Six Flags, adding, ‘You bring light and love into my life, and you make my heart shine. You’re naturally gifted at everything you do!’

She continued to think fondly of his cheerful spirit, saying, “You’re such a kind and talented person – you can really do anything! I’m incredibly proud of everything you’ve accomplished and the person you are. I love you, Ace!”

Honestly, seeing Jessica just shine as she celebrates every little milestone with the kids is everything. And it’s not just about the pictures, you can tell she and Eric are really trying to make co-parenting work. They announced they were separating back in January 2025, but throughout the whole year, they’ve both made such an effort to stay connected as a family for the kids’ sake, and I seriously admire them for it. It just shows how much they love those little ones.

She told TMZ last November that children inherit traits from both parents, so it’s crucial to always speak respectfully around them. This helps them form a healthy understanding of both sides, and unconditional love is key.
