Jim Carrey met up with a former co-star from his popular fantasy film – a movie that earned $437 million – after 25 years apart.
Jim Carrey and Taylor Momsen unexpectedly ran into each other at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony. It was their first time seeing each other since they co-starred in the 2000 movie How the Grinch Stole Christmas. Momsen later told People magazine about the reunion and shared some of her fondest memories of working with Carrey.
I really appreciated how protective and kind he always was. Filming ‘The Grinch’ and getting to know him, even with all the makeup, was a wonderful experience. He always felt like Jim to me, and I always saw him in his makeup. He was incredibly funny, lively, and just an all-around amazing person.
I have to admit, even though critics weren’t wild about it – it only has a 49% rating on Rotten Tomatoes – How the Grinch Stole Christmas has become a real holiday favorite for so many of us. The movie, based on the Dr. Seuss book, tells the story of the Grinch, played by Jim Carrey, who’s a bit of a grumpy loner determined to spoil Christmas for everyone in Whoville. But then this sweet little girl, Cindy Lou Who, played by Dakota Fanning, tries to befriend him and show him a little kindness, hoping to change his heart.
When she filmed the 2000 holiday movie, Momsen was just five years old. She remembers the experience being incredibly meaningful and says it still affects her today.
Momsen explained the enduring popularity of the movie, noting that audiences connect with The Grinch because of its genuinely kind heart, warm feeling, and positive message.
Blake Momsen is also famous for playing Jenny Humphrey in the popular TV show Gossip Girl. In 2010, she left the series and acting to concentrate on music and her band, The Pretty Reckless, where she sings lead vocals.
Jim Carrey is known for many classic films like The Mask, Dumb and Dumber, and Bruce Almighty. He’s been less active in recent years, with only a few roles like in Sonic the Hedgehog. Now, he’s joining David Robert Mitchell’s new movie, Evergreen Pines and the Fading Summer.
Jim Carrey has been largely out of the spotlight, leaving fans curious about his future. However, his recent time with former co-star Mara Momsen suggests he’s starting a new chapter, taking on new acting roles and making more public appearances.
