The TikTok community has lost one of its own.
John Crawley, better known as KingBeardX (previously Pimpmunkx) – a well-known personality on social media with approximately 2.5 million TikTok followers – passed away on August 18 following a prolonged hospitalization, as confirmed by his friend and ex-podcast co-host Anthony Caruso. At the time of his death, John was 47 years old.
I regret to inform everyone that Pimpmunkx (KingBeardx) passed away yesterday. Caruso, also known as Shabisky, shared this news on a GoFundMe campaign that was set up to help with Crawley’s hospital bills. He expressed his gratitude to all of you who have contributed so far. According to him, Pimpmunkx’s mother asked him to pass on her thanks.
Following Caruso’s passing, he and his internet friend, commonly recognized as Benpai, conducted a live YouTube stream as a tribute to the popular content creator. This individual was celebrated for his comedic and emotional responses to food videos. During the broadcast, they discussed the circumstances surrounding Crawley’s demise.
Benpai mentioned during the August 18 broadcast that John had been in the hospital for approximately three to four weeks. He initially experienced difficulty breathing, followed by a heart attack last week. His condition seemed to improve at times, but then took a turn for the worse again.
Two days prior to Crawley’s unfortunate demise, Caruso shared a relatively positive assessment about his friend’s health status.
On August 16, Caruso updated the GoFundMe page: “I’ve just had a conversation with his mother. He’s not able to speak yet, but he’s alert and this is encouraging news. However, he continues to experience difficulties with his lungs and breathing.
At the start of August, Crawley’s health problems started worsening significantly, as he was admitted into the intensive care unit.

Caruso stated in an Aug. 8 TikTok video that the individual is struggling with respiratory issues, currently reliant on a respirator, and the situation is worsening. Tomorrow, he will lose the use of the respirator and undergo a tracheotomy instead, indicating that his condition is rapidly deteriorating.
Following the announcement of his passing, numerous admirers of Crawley paid tribute to him by posting heartfelt messages on his memorial site.
One visitor commented that your videos brought light into numerous challenging times, serving as an encouragement to laugh, relax, and appreciate small joys. It’s clear that you possessed a unique talent, not only in comedy, but also in fostering connections with others.
They appended, ‘Thank you for each smile, each chuckle, each moment of delight you brought to the world. You will be greatly missed, but always remembered. Find peace, Mr. Crawley.’
