Jon Hamm Addresses Potential Season 3 Return For Prime Video’s Hit Fantasy Show Despite Controversy

As a huge fan of Jon Hamm, I was really interested to hear him talk about potentially returning to his iconic role in one of his most popular shows. It’s great to see he’s still so in demand and clearly enjoying his career!

The actor, known for his role in Mad Men, recently appeared in season 2 of Your Friends & Neighbors and the new Pixar film Hoppers. He’s also been in Landman, Transformers One, Fargo, and the recent Mean Girls movie. Now, the Emmy-winning actor is discussing the possibility of returning to his popular role in the Prime Video fantasy series Good Omens.

The TV series Good Omens is based on the popular fantasy novel by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman. It’s set in modern London and focuses on the adventures of beings from Heaven and Hell. John Hamm plays the angel Gabriel in the show. After appearing in a key role during the second season, Hamm was interviewed by RadioTimes about whether he’ll be back for the third season of Good Omens.

“That’s a good question!” Hamm responded. “That’s something for people who make a lot more money than I do to decide, but things worked out great with Archangel Gabriel.” In the second season of Good Omens, the finale reveals that Gabriel has fallen in love with the demon Beelzebub (played by Shelley Conn), and the two of them leave Heaven and Hell to be together.

Hamm jokingly suggested his character might have found true love and disappeared into the cosmos, leaving open the possibility of a return in some form. However, since season 3 is scheduled to premiere on May 13th, he’s likely already filmed any scenes he might be in and is simply keeping fans guessing.

Since 2024, when author Neil Gaiman faced sexual assault allegations, any project based on his work – like Netflix’s The Sandman – has faced public debate. As a result of these accusations, the upcoming third season of Good Omens will be a single, feature-length episode instead of the usual six-episode format.

The first season of Good Omens closely follows the original novel, but seasons 2 and 3 have moved beyond the source material with new storylines. The final season will likely center on resolving the romantic relationship between Aziraphale (Michael Sheen) and Crowley (David Tennant). While fans might hope to see Gabriel and Beelzebub return, their appearances could be cut to keep the story focused.

Good Omens season 3 releases on Prime Video on May 13, 2026.
