As a JRPG fan, I’ve been having a great time lately! We’ve gotten some really solid games that feel like everything we’ve wanted, like Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. And it’s not stopping there – Octopath Traveler 0 looks incredible and is bringing back a series I love with a fresh take. But the best news? One game I’ve been eagerly awaiting finally has a US release date, and it’s coming soon!
The popular JRPG series is getting a new installment called Ys X: Proud Nordics, which was previously only available in Japan and Asia. Publisher NIS America has announced it will be released in Western regions on February 19th, 2026. The game will now be available on PlayStation 5, in addition to the Nintendo Switch 2 and PC.
NIS America, the publisher, says that Ys X: Proud Nordics isn’t just a re-release – it’s a complete, enhanced edition. It features improved graphics, helpful new features, extra gameplay options, and brand new story content, including a challenging new dungeon. While fans already loved the 2025 version, this expanded edition builds on that success with even more challenging gameplay, deeper exploration, and a richer world. This release also adds completely new adventures and stories.
Players once again take on the role of Adol Christin, the famous red-haired adventurer. After a chance meeting at sea, he becomes magically linked to Karja, a strong Norman warrior, through mysterious Mana shackles. Their rocky alliance is soon threatened by the Griegr, an unstoppable, undead army endangering the people and wealth of the Obelia Gulf. Sailing aboard the ship Sandras, Adol and Karja must team up with new allies, solve ancient riddles, and build surprising relationships as they battle enemies that challenge them physically and mentally.
JRPG fans have been eagerly awaiting news about a Western release, and now there’s finally something to celebrate! Ys X: Proud Nordics is looking fantastic, with new content, improved gameplay, and the classic charm that defines the series. It’s poised to be one of the most exciting action-RPGs of 2026, and fans of Adol Christin’s adventures won’t want to miss this next chapter.
It’s common for games made in Japan to launch first in their home country before becoming available worldwide. Though this can be annoying for players, developers often use this extra time to improve the game and add new features. This also happens with consoles – for example, Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl recently came to PlayStation 5 after being available on Xbox for a year. Ultimately, fans hoping for a game on their preferred platform or in their region can only be patient and wait.
