Judas Resurfaces with Key Art, New Gameplay Details

In a fresh update on the PlayStation Blog, Ken Levine, the creative mind behind Judas – a game that carries forward BioShock’s legacy with a unique roguelike spin – has made an appearance, shedding light on key aspects of the upcoming title. This includes unveiling the main art for the game (see it above) and offering insights into the intriguing mechanism of how its primary antagonist is chosen within the gameplay.

In the game, it’s shown that by taking certain actions, you catch the eye of the Big 3. Initially, they act as allies towards you, but should you neglect one of them for an extended period, they transform into adversaries and take on the role of the antagonist. As a result, they gain additional abilities to disrupt your moves and thwart your objectives. The following video clips provide just a glimpse of this game feature.

It seems that Judas is structured so that one of the three characters may turn against you, depending on the choices you make, with some decisions fostering friendships while others lead to estrangement.

Levine goes on to say: “We aim to make it painful to lose any of them, as if you’re losing a friend. We plan to exploit this dynamic, making the decision incredibly tough. The main trio will all vie for your loyalty and attention. They can offer you rewards, protect you in fights, mock other characters, and reveal their deepest confidences to you. However, at some point, you’ll have to choose whom you trust and whom you don’t.

The manner in which you handle hacking, confrontations, and crafting significantly impacts your bond with the main trio, and they’ll respond based on your interactions with other characters.

Regarding the question about when Judas will be released, Ken Levine mentioned that the developer isn’t quite prepared to set a firm date at this point. He explained that they aim to prevent any potential adjustments to the release date after it has been announced, but emphasized that the game truly becomes real only when players start playing it. Therefore, everyone on the team is working hard towards that day.
