Jujutsu Kaisen Creator Teases Another Series After Latest Sequel

Just a year after finishing the popular manga Jujutsu Kaisen with a somewhat debated ending, creator Gege Akutami is back with a sequel. Jujutsu Kaisen was Akutami’s first serialized work and quickly became a worldwide success, establishing them as a leading manga artist. The original series concluded in September 2024 with a final set of volumes that included a four-part epilogue, hinting at potential future stories. In September 2025, Akutami surprised fans with Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo, illustrated by Yuji Iwasaki. This new series is set 68 years after the events of the Culling Game and features a fresh cast of characters, while also updating readers on what happened to the original characters.

Readers discover Yuta Okkotsu and Maki Zenin have died before learning the difficult fate Yuji must face on his own. Unlike the original Jujutsu Kaisen manga, which ran for many years, Modulo is intended as a brief follow-up lasting about six months. The series is nearing its end and should finish in just a few weeks. Thankfully, the author, Akutami, doesn’t plan to stop creating stories after Modulo concludes.

Jujutsu Kaisen Creator Confirms He Will Be Working on More Manga in The Future

On February 15, 2026, Viz Media published a new section on its website featuring thoughts from various manga artists. All Jump authors except Eiichiro Oda, the creator of One Piece, shared their appreciation for Yusei Matsui, whose manga The Elusive Samurai recently finished. Gege Akutami commented that he aspires to dedicate his life to creating manga, just like Matsui Sensei.

Matsui has been a manga artist for more than twenty years, and is famous for series like Assassination Classroom and The Elusive Samurai. Inspired by Matsui, Akutami has stated he intends to keep creating manga in the future.

Since Akutami released Modulo so soon after the main Jujutsu Kaisen story ended, it’s likely they’re already thinking about their next project. The JJK universe offers plenty of opportunities for spin-offs and new stories, and Akutami could easily create something completely original next time.

What to Expect From Jujutsu Kaisen in The Future

The core storyline has finished, but the anime continues and will complete the Culling Game Arc over the next two seasons. We don’t yet know what the final arc will be about, but details should be revealed after the Culling Game Arc ends with a significant cliffhanger. Also, although the Modulo manga is nearing completion, its huge popularity suggests it might also be adapted into an anime.

The world of Jujutsu Kaisen will continue to grow with a new spin-off novel by popular horror writer Yumeaki Hirayama. Although details are currently secret, Gege Akutami, the creator of the series, will oversee the project. With new content and surprises planned, Jujutsu Kaisen is set to remain a popular franchise for the foreseeable future, even after the main story’s conclusion.
