Season 3 of Jujutsu Kaisen premiered on January 8, 2026, and the first two episodes immediately exceeded fans’ expectations with their incredible detail. These episodes were noticeably high quality, as they were initially created for a Jujutsu Kaisen movie release. However, the true extent of their impressiveness became clear once they were available for streaming, letting fans analyze every single frame.
The opening song for Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 was impressive, but a specific moment in the opening sequence really showcased the dedication of Studio MAPPA. The scene where Yuta confronts Yuji – pinning him down with a blade – takes place on a theater stage. As fan @Takemylovebeam pointed out on X, this detail is significant because Yuta wasn’t actually trying to kill Yuji; he was performing for the Jujutsu Sorcerers who wanted Yuji eliminated.
Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 Is Going Above and Beyond in Quality and Detail

The end of the second episode of Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 reveals that Yuta wasn’t trying to kill Yuji. Instead, he was secretly working to fulfill a promise to Gojo and keep Yuji safe after Gojo’s disappearance. To do this, Yuta had to pretend he intended to kill Yuji, because he’d already made a vow to do so. This highlights how important it was for Yuta to convincingly play his part to protect Yuji. The season’s opening scene – showing Yuta overpowering Yuji on a stage, ending with cursed blood – proves that Jujutsu Kaisen isn’t just visually stunning, but also incredibly detailed and thoughtful, taking the story to a whole new level.
Studio MAPPA’s excellent work isn’t limited to just one instance; the show consistently demonstrates its quality. A clever detail in the second episode reveals that Tengen shares the same voice as the anime’s narrator. This is significant because Tengen is portrayed as a powerful, almost god-like figure who observes everything, subtly implying he’s been aware of all the events unfolding. These kinds of thoughtful touches make this season of Jujutsu Kaisen stand out, and if the show maintains this high level of quality, it has a strong chance of being the best anime of 2026.
