Watching the continuation of Jujutsu Kaisen, it’s clear the story is building towards a final showdown, and we’ve been treated to some incredible fights along the way. One moment fans were really hoping for was the return of Yuji, and it’s been amazing to see him back in action. We learned he’s still a powerful sorcerer, and incredibly, ages at a drastically slower rate – even becoming the strongest of them all! Now that he’s returned, it’s become clear just how much stronger he’s become; he’s operating on a completely different level than anyone we’ve seen before, possibly even surpassing Gojo and Sukuna in power.
Yuji Itadori has been easily defeating his opponents, and he seems confident enough to even challenge Dabura, the most powerful Simurian. However, fans have been expecting another fight since chapter seven of this new series. That chapter suggested Mahito, the most evil villain from the original story, had survived. Chapter twenty confirmed he’s not only alive but also involved in a plot to eliminate cursed energy. Knowing Mahito’s cruel nature, a confrontation was inevitable, and the latest chapter delivers just that – a rematch between Yuji and Mahito.
Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo Recreates Shibuya Incident’s Main Fight

Chapter 21 of Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo, titled “Pathway of Souls,” picks up after Yuji and Maru talk about Mahito’s lack of cooperation, with Yuji concerned he might be forced to kill him. The chapter then shows a second fight between Yuji and Mahito. Maru explains that Mahito exists within a special realm called the Soul Pathway, making him impossible to truly kill—only Yuji and Maru, who have bodies, are vulnerable. This boosts Mahito’s confidence, and he immediately attacks Yuji, empowered by the fact that the Soul Pathway connects to everything with a soul. As the area transforms into the Shibuya region, Yuji quickly ends the fight by activating his Domain Expansion, destroying Mahito.
Honestly, watching Yuji go at Mahito was amazing. He didn’t just fight him, he really got into his head, basically asking if that’s all Mahito had! It wasn’t even a real fight – Mahito never stood a chance. And that’s exactly what I wanted to see! We all knew Mahito was terrified of Sukuna, and by the end of the Shibuya arc, Yuji had already proven he could overpower him, leaving Mahito genuinely scared. Seeing that fear play out again in this Jujutsu Kaisen sequel is just so satisfying, especially knowing we don’t have much left of it!
No one anticipated Mahito would have such a significant part to play in the continuation of the story. Initially, he was just a tool for Kenjaku’s plan to merge Tengen and humanity, but now he’s become crucial to the final events. This shows how carefully Mahito was developed as a character and how important he is to the overall narrative. Giving him a prominent role in what promises to be one of the sequel’s biggest battles feels like a perfect way to bring his story to a satisfying end.
