After nearly ten years since the original manga came out, the long-awaited anime adaptation of Witch Hat Atelier has finally arrived on Crunchyroll as part of the Spring 2026 season. While announced in 2022 with an initial release date of 2025, production took more time—and viewers can quickly see why. The anime has become one of the biggest new series in recent years, drawing fans in with its beautiful animation that faithfully captures the detailed artwork of the original manga. The series is based on the popular fantasy manga by Kamone Shirahama, which has been published in Kodansha’s Morning Two magazine since July 2016.
The anime is currently planned to have just one season with 13 episodes. We’re about halfway through the first season, and the show has added four new voice actors to the cast. One of them is Junichi Suwabe, well known for his role as Ryomen Sukuna in Jujutsu Kaisen, a very popular villain from a recent hit anime.
Witch Hat Atelier Introduces Four New Cast Members

In Episode 7 of the anime, we meet the Knights Moralis, a group of witches responsible for upholding the rules of the Day of the Pact. They protect the secret of magic by erasing the memories of anyone who learns too much. They also act as a kind of magical police, punishing witches who misuse their powers or practice forbidden spells.
According to Comic Natalie, popular voice actor Junichi Suwabe will be voicing Easthies, one of the Knights Moralis. Suwabe is well-known for his work in anime, including roles like Sukuna, Shota Aizawa from My Hero Academia, Grimmjow from Bleach, and Yami Sukehiro from Black Clover, among numerous other characters.
The cast also includes Jun Kusawa, well known for his role as Nigami in 100 Meters, who will be voicing Utowin. Hiroki Yasumoto, famous as King from One Punch Man, is bringing Gaiga to life. And Yui Ishikawa, recognized for her work as Mikasa Ackerman in Attack on Titan and Violet in Violet Evergarden, will be the voice of Lulucis.
Witch Hat Atelier Is One of The Best Anime in Recent Years

Since it first aired, this anime has drawn viewers in with its beautiful animation and the story of Coco, who dreams of becoming a witch. The series takes place in a magical world, but only people born with special abilities can actually practice witchcraft. Coco helps out at her mother’s dress shop and is endlessly fascinated by magic, despite knowing she doesn’t have the power to use it herself.
Coco’s life changes dramatically when a famous witch named Qifrey visits her mother’s shop. She discovers the truth about magic, which has long been kept secret. Meanwhile, Qifrey realizes Coco has crossed paths with someone he’s been searching for – a person using dangerous, prohibited magic.
To find the person responsible for a strange event, he offers her a chance to train as a witch at his workshop. But her path to becoming a witch is difficult, as she tries to correct a serious error caused by her own curiosity. You can watch the series with subtitles or dubbed audio on Crunchyroll, with new episodes released every Monday at 7:00 A.M. Pacific Time.
