Please be aware that this article contains spoilers for the upcoming Jujutsu Kaisen manga. To celebrate the anime’s return, MAPPA is releasing a special movie called Jujutsu Kaisen: Execution. It will feature a recap of the Shibuya Incident Arc, followed by the first two episodes of Season 3. These new episodes cover the Itadori’s Extermination Arc, showing what happens after the Shibuya Incident and revealing why Yuta Okkotsu is acting the way he is. The trailer hints at an intense battle between Yuta and Yuji Itadori, where Yuta, a powerful sorcerer, seems to easily overpower Sukuna’s vessel. The anime will also introduce Naoya Zenin, a well-known and divisive villain who has his own reasons for getting involved.
The next season of Jujutsu Kaisen will begin with the “Perfect Preparation” arc, focusing on Maki Zenin, before moving into the much-awaited “Culling Game” arc. The “Culling Game” is the series’ second-to-last major story arc, where sorcerers are tricked by Kenjaku into a deadly battle royale while also trying to rescue Satoru Gojo from the Prison Realm. Promotion for Jujutsu Kaisen: Execution is underway, and Yuma Uchida, who voices Megumi Fushiguro, has hinted at a significant development in the first two episodes.
Jujutsu Kaisen Star Talks About the Major Change in a Famous Dynamic

In an interview on the anime’s website, Umida explained that she believes the characters’ relationship evolves after the Shibuya Incident, and that this event allowed for a more in-depth portrayal of it.
Junya Enoki, who voices Yuji Itadori, noted that while the Shibuya Incident showed a good relationship between the characters, they don’t often fight together as a team. He found this particular display of teamwork to be a welcome change.
Umida explains that the Shibuya Incident deeply affected Megumi, changing his perspective as a sorcerer. While Megumi generally acts as he should, Umida believes the incident caused a significant internal shift in how he approaches curse exorcism and confronts challenges.
I’ve been following the story closely, and while Umeda hasn’t revealed everything that’s coming, his recent comments hint at a deepening trust between these two characters. It’s clear Yuji is really struggling with the aftermath of Shibuya – being Sukuna’s host and feeling responsible for so much loss has changed him. He’s weighed down by guilt and just doesn’t seem like the same person anymore.
Megumi also blames himself, as he was the one who brought Mahoraga into the fight, causing the devastating battle between it and Sukuna. Despite their incredible growth overnight as sorcerers and individuals, they can’t rest and must urgently find a way to rescue Gojo from the enemy.
