The Winter 2026 anime season featured the highly acclaimed third season of Jujutsu Kaisen. Continuing directly after the devastating Shibuya Incident, which shattered the world of jujutsu sorcery, the story plunges into even greater chaos as Kenjaku launches the Culling Game – a brutal, high-stakes battle royale. This season covered the Extermination and Perfect Preparation arcs, and the first half of the Culling Game, all at a remarkably quick pace. The season culminated in what many consider the best anime episode ever created, showcasing Yuta Okkotsu’s intense battle in Sendai Colony against two incredibly powerful ancient sorcerers and a uniquely dangerous cursed spirit.
The current season has been packed with action, but season four promises even more intense battles and moments fans will love. Though season three was thrilling, it didn’t show much of the series’ main villain, Ryomen Sukuna. After causing chaos in Shibuya, Sukuna is currently lying low, waiting for the right moment to strike. The season three finale briefly reveals his original form from the Heian Era, which unlocks his full power.
Sukuna Will Return in Jujutsu Kaisen Season 4

Sukuna is a hugely popular character in anime right now. Because he wasn’t featured much in the recent season, the studio released a sneak peek of what he looked like during the Heian era to excite fans. While Season 4 did show his powerful form, it was a legendary and intimidating depiction. This new glimpse, however, shows a more relaxed Sukuna casually watching the chaos unfold in Tokyo. He’ll be back in full force in the upcoming Season 4, as the sorcerers continue their battle against the villains.
Following the events of the ‘Fearsome Cursed Womb Arc,’ the villain has been secretly planning a large-scale operation. He’s been remarkably patient, waiting for the perfect moment to act. The second half of the Culling Game will finally reveal his master plan, which has been months in the making. Essentially, the Culling Game is setting the stage for the story’s final arc, and the villain has finally achieved his goal.
He’ll remain a significant challenge for the other sorcerers, particularly Yuji Itadori, as he continues to host the villain’s spirit. A fourth season of the anime is planned, but it may take some time before any details or a release date are announced.
